I'm not thinking of people who run around in Ricer's all day long and try to relive "Fast and the Furious" or "Biker Boyz". I'm refering to some joe doe in their daily driver who for the fun of it decided one day to drag race someone. I'm more one who likes to do sucker drags with people. A sucker drag is where you coax someone into a drag race, wait till the light changes, watch as they fly out of the light like an idiot, and you just sit there and enjoy the fun as several cops pop out of their hiding places and nail the guy for street racing and speeding. Sure cures a lot of idiot ricers from the urge to speed and drag race. :)

Have you ever drag raced before?

Unfortunately idiot ricers will flash their hazards and take it as a "win" and they DON'T lose the urge to speed and street race.
Heck, even when they get spanked when I'm not even trying they insist on racing. There's your definition of idiot.

The only time I get an urge to street race is when some idiot gets up next to me, rolling over the line, just waiting for the light to go green so they can pass me. I hate idiot drivers who are always trying to get in the best lane to pass people/weave in and out of traffic.

There is this one two-lane road that merges into one after about 2 football fields length, and people ALWAYS line up at the light and try to be the other one to be in front.

At college it was quite funny when guys in "pimp" imports, or even 5 liter mustangs would try to race my friend in his 98 Trans Am with a used NASCAR engine in it. It puts about 710 HP to the wheels on pump gas through dual 3 inch exhaust with Dynomax Super Turbo mufflers.

Save dragging for the track. What's the point if you don't know your times and speed. And yes, I've been racing before, but mostly on the track. There have been times when I've done an interstate pull, when teh interstate was mostly empty.

I've done the sucker drag a few times in areas I know cops are hiding. Pretty funny watching them get pulled over.

I've sorta-real raced ricers on the freeway onramps... Even my Volvo won once against a riced out Toyota. I laughed my a$$ off.... I just gunned it and sat drinking my coffee as I pulled away from riceboy. (I don't believe my car was faster, but I think he was trying to grannyshift and screwed up...)

The Fiero of course beats most anything it goes against, and my old GTI's weren't slouches either. But my favorite car to onramp race was my 76 280z. That thing FLEW. (Of course, the overbored engine, ported head, and oversized throttle body had something to do with that...;))

16.469 @ 83.04mph. Faster than a 94-98 V6 Mustang..faster than a 4-banger Cherokee..but not a whole lot else. :p

I used to, but there's really no use for it. Of course, these days, not much will beat me off the line if I gun it. Of course that's because I've been riding my '02 Honda Superhawk. :D

If I do it on the streets, I stop at the limit. It only takes about 4 seconds to do a race to 45 :)

...just make sure you come to a complete stop at stop signs for the next ten minutes or so.

You better watch what you say, lest I come kick you ass for talking down about my Supra. ;)

Supras definately aren't 1/8 mile cars, but they're good 1/4 mile, and even better on mile runs. Gotta give it time for those turbos to spool. It's fun hitting 170 in about 30 seconds. Then you realize how fast you're going, and you feel how bumpy the road is, and you decide that going 170 probably isn't the best idea.

Then you wake up clutching your pillow in your hands and realize your Supra will never get up to 170 mph in real life.

Not really racing officially but trying to beat someone to a corner or just going fast when the light turns green can be fun sometimes...

That's funny, because mine did...maybe a stock Supra won't, but mine will.

EDIT: Top speed for a stock twin turbo is 162mph...that's with 320hp and stock gearing.

Have you ever drag raced before?

Yes, not in a long time. The car you drive has something to do with it, also the town. In Boca Raton (a bit south of here) it seems everybody is in a race to get to the next traffic light. I used to think it was the car I drove, but, I've been there in a few different cars now and it's the same crap. Really annoying... and sorta addicting... if you don't join the crowd you will constantly get cut off... but I've moved and am older and not so much of a hurry anymore so lately I've been rather complacent. Still, when I happen to be in that area I have to fight the urge to gun it at every light.

Not a racing story, but, funny none-the-less:

Was at a stoplight the otherday, left turn (2lane) and a dumbass pulled a few cars back and had his speakers blaring. Real loud. bass thumping stuff. Annoying as always. This time, there was a cop in the straight lanes he couldn't see (or didn't care about) and as our light changed, the cop pulled in behind him and pulled him over. There are noise ordinances around here so he probably got a ticket of some sort... that was sweet.
