Have you ever brought food to work to share with others?

Food as in candies, donuts, snacks, ect...

I used to at a job way back then but only because I had to. Everyone in the department had to take turns bringing in something on Fridays. Every job after that I have never brought in anything.

Fairly frequently, yeh. I'll make cookies, salsa, guacamole, ect and bring it in. Coworkers will do the same. Nothing formal or set days, just whenever we feel like it.

Not usually. I inherited most of a leftover wedding cake the other day and brought that in. Other people bring food stuff pretty frequently, either from random baking or for birthdays or something. When I started avoiding the "cake table" at work I lost about 7 pounds.

Yeah I do it all the time, whether it's just doughnuts in the morning, or I make cookies or something else. People seem to enjoy it.

I brought in donuts to my current job once. People didn't really seem to give a shit, so I didn't do it after that.

Used to do it as a consultant all the time - for my own team, since you really weren't supposed to give anything to government clients. The junior guys on my team always appreciated it. Many had shitty commutes getting in and were hungry and under-caffeinated by the time they got to the client site.

I'd do it once a week in my current job if anyone cared. Our boss offers enough perks that donuts really aren't going to improve employee satisfaction much past where it is. Donuts cant compete with being able to work from home once a week, flex schedules, etc.

At my last job we used to have "themed" Fridays and everyone in my department would bring in something. We had people from all over the company that would stop by every Friday just to eat. Some of the themes were Fiesta Friday, Cheese Friday, Meat Friday, Sweets Friday...etc. I was able to try so many different foods, it was awesome. Since I worked in Madison WI at the time, Cheese Friday was my favorite. We had so many different types of cheeses I had never tried fresh from the maker.

Since I left that job I haven't had the same type of experience.

I used to bring dim sum stuff into work every other Friday at one of my old jobs. But that was when my commute brought me near Chinatown. These days, I bring candy in occasionally (mostly gummy bears) but that's about it.

The last shop my dad worked at before he retired did it all the time. When things were slow and people didn't fuck their cars up often enough, they would randomly decide to have a feast. It was a pretty diverse workplace so there was a wide variety of dishes. I always showed up those days :awe:

Whenever I bake, I bring in most of the batches to the office. We have so many people coming in and out of our copy room, it usually disappears quickly.

Nope. That might be fun. As long as people are here to work and not have any fun, it's fine.

Oh, and food is not allowed in the office, either.

My job is soooo awesome.

I do sometimes if it's store bought, but I rarely eat when others bring homemade stuff in.

I work at a high school, and sometimes the kids bring stuff in, and that is a major no go. Some teachers I know have actually eaten stuff from the kids and got really ill. A few years back a whole class got sent home cause some kid baked brownies with laxatives.

what are you, some kind of commie?

oh...like leftover cookies and snacks and such?

hellz yea, who else is going to eat all of that after-party chaff?

there's nothing formal or anything, but yeah, a lot of people do (mostly the married guys... left-overs from their old people parties and such).

I like to bake but I don't really like to eat, so my coworkers are the beneficiaries of a lot of my trial recipes. last week I brought in my banana split cookies.

Yeah, I occasionally stop and get donuts or other breakfast food, and bring it in to work. My coworkers usually curse me, then devour it. A couple of other folks occasionally bring things in too, but not everyone... and we don't care.

If there were food themes, or if you were expected to bring something in... yeah that would get on my nerves very, very quickly. I'd be saving vacation time just so that I didn't have to attend. Not that I mind sharing food, I just detest being told that I'm going to.

I make my own Salad Dressing and Salsa so when I bring it in, people like it so much that they ask me to make them some. Then I am forced to charge them for a bottle of dressing or a pound of Salsa. Anyone know anything about mass producing food? 🙂 errr.. mass production of foods.
