Credit cards are superior
atm cards are superior
Losing your phone and not being destitute on the side of the road because i have a cc is superior

not having software flaws open me up to being ripped off is superior.

What am i missing?
What am i getting wrong?

Lol. I barely trust the stores to handle my data securely, let alone Apple.

I've used google wallet at my local 7-11 and McDonald's. That's about it because pretty much no one else has the NFC turned on in their readers anyway.

Is this the reason why a lot of card machines now say 'swipe your card or phone' or some such? I've never looked into it; seemed like a bad idea for all parties involved. Especially for credit, where no one ever ID's you and a signature is worth nothing.

At least if it was linked to debit, you still have your PIN as a layer of protection.

I'm assuming you're talking about services like Apple Pay.

I don't really see a benefit to NFC phone payments, for the consumer. I'm still pretty much locked in to having to carry my wallet - many places don't and probably will never accept NFC payments and I still need my IDs and insurance cards. Pulling my phone out and scanning my thumb seems no faster than swiping my card. Security wise, I really don't care. Magnetic strips or Chip+PIN seem secure enough to me, and I'm not liable for fraudulent charges anyway. I understand that this does benefit CC companies and retailers, but it doesn't really affect me as a consumer.

I do think Apple Pay is cool for integration on the phone. Being able to use it for phone apps (ex. ordering a pizza) instead of typing it in to the retailers app is convenient. Hopefully, Apple will eventually incorporate this with Safari and have a service similar to Paypal where you can checkout in regular online stores without a specific app.

I used Apple Pay to buy something at Walgreens the other day. Was quick and easy.

If the phone uses NFC to transmit CC data, can a hacked phone transmit even more?...

I mean, you can't really get better than CC/bank data, but still.

Oh, and no. All my CCs fit into a little RFID proof slip in my pocket. Don't have a smartphone either.

I haven't yet, but that is only because I haven't been to a place that accepts it. The Apple Pay app is pretty good for the enhanced security. I won't ever be without a card, but I'd prefer to use the use once numbers. If I am ordering from a website I don't trust, I'll get an electronic number from my CC company anyway. This saves me the trouble.

Security is not my concern, hackers can hack my CC data all day long, no fvcks will be available from side to give. My problem is the habit and the ease of use. from my cheap phone, first I unlock, then I enter the pin on that cc pay app, then I wait for it to load... by that time I will swipe my CC 10 times. Now If I could afford an iPhone, which could work seamlessly every time then I could give it a try.

"Apple security" sounds like "military intelligence".

Are you going to elaborate or is it that you prefer to just declare victory and be on your way?

Please do elaborate, I'm open to being convinced why i should use an insecure phone containing insecure apps from 3rd party developers versus a 2mm thick ultralight highly secure credit card that fits easily in the wallet that i'm already carrying along with my drivers license.

No. I do want any financial information on my mobile phone. No bank apps, no payment apps. I do have my credit card saved in Google play store but that's it.

Because that's misinformation.

Data on the phone is encrypted and bank information is stored remotely. Credit cards can be skimmed and duplicated or stolen.

Yes. When Google Wallet first came out on my Galaxy Nexus years ago. I put on one of my credit cards and bought a Jamba Juice. It was kinda cool but it ended up taking longer than handing my credit card out. Plus they wouldn't let me sync my Amex so I stopped using it all together.
