About 6 hours overnight for getting busted with some weed, paraphernalia, along with a few Dixie cups/potting soil in my dorm room. That was my freshman year back around 1991. I wound up being charged with a felony and two misdemeanors. After my mom hired one of the best lawyers around, charges were dropped and the only punishment was stuffing envelopes in the Chancellor's office for two week.

But it still sucked having to spend a night in jail. The worst part by far was using the pay phone to call my mom at 4am to break the news. The first thing she heard when she answered the phone was "Collect call from Mecklenburg County jail, do you wish you accept charges?" All I heard on the other end was her starting to cry. I'll never forget that and haven't been in trouble with the law since.

Felony and two misdemeanors for that?!?! How did they pull that off?

Misdemeanor 1: simple possession
Misdemeanor 2: possession of drug paraphernalia
Felony: manufacturing a controlled substance with intent to sell

The last one was BS. I was just fooling around and thought it may be fun to see if I could get a couple plants to grow for my own personal use. They found a shoebox that had 6 Dixie cups of soil in them that were no less than 6 months old. I had forgotten they were even in there. But because of that and the bag of soil, they try to charge me with the felony I listed above. I remember being in court that day and the officers walked in with this huge box of crap they found in the room. They never even got to present it before the judge dropped all charges.

It wouldnt even take a lawyer fresh out of grad school to get you out of that felony charge. You aint growing no weed in dixie cups, thats for sure.

No, and it is a miracle. I broke all sorts of laws every day from about age 16 - 19. I think it is funny that potential employers see my squeaky clean record.

Yep twice but no convictions.

I got a public intox in college. I was at a bar drinking after taking a final I was sure I failed. It comes 3am, time to leave and I am pretty far gone. I had driven to the bar but had the smarts to leave my truck there and try to walk the 1.5 miles back to my house on campus. I was walking down the sidewalk and tripped over a broken piece and fell pretty hard. It just so happened that a cop car saw me and pulled up the where I was laying and arrested me for PI. I explained how I was walking to avoid a DUI but the cop had no sympathy and said "Should have driven, you'd be home by now." Had to spend the night there and when I went to court the judge actually laughed at the cop and dismissed the charges.

Second time is not a story for here.
