once on the playground i kicked some older kid in the nuts cause he pulled me off the monkey bars and tore my shirt

does that count as a fist fight

I've been in more silly fights then I care to repeat here. Let's just say I've been knocked on my ass a few times, and I've knocked people on their asses.

Of course I train to compete in boxing and mma....

I did alot till about 19 then I started getting my girl pregnant and had to grow up and take care of my new family.

I used to crave it in a sick way, strange now that I look back...:\

I got in a few in HS and in Jr High. I was the gentle giant (I was tall AND heavy) in school and people sensed weakness. While I never threw a punch (never learned proper technique), I just grappled and tossed their scrawny asses into lockers and such. Once I landed on a kid and thought I really hurt him. Luckily I just knocked the wind out of him, scared me into trying anything to stay out of a fight though, because I did not think about consequences when I slammed the kid on the ground.

I have and now that I am grown, I do everything I can to keep the peace. Violence is stupid.

I do wish that I was allowed to kick one person's ass a month though...to only be used on people who don't know how to freaking drive.

Almost every day in middle school and HS. I can't believe when I talk to people who have never been in a fight in their lives. My neighborhood growing up was like a prison in retrospect.

More than I can count. I remember my first fight I was about six. I was in the mcdonalds play place with my sister. She's two years younger than me and this kid who was about my age took her socks. I kept telling him to give them back to her and he woundn't so I punched him in the face. He went crying to his mom who went to the manager. Who came and told my mom I'm never allowed in there play place again ha.

It would seem that the vast majority have never been in a fist fight. That got me thinking about the shootings in schools the last few years. Could it be that the last few generations find pulling a trigger less distasteful than hitting someone with your own fist? That mindset scares the crap out of me.

unfortunately yes. i was short and small (5'1 maybe 105 lbs, I wrestled 103 varsity my JR year finally got to 119 Sr year heh) so i was the target of bullies. Instead of taking it and avoiding them i would fight back.

i lost a more fights then i won. Even losing it would keep most bullies from bothering me again. You don't want the reputation of getting your ass kicked by the smallest kid in the school.

I never understood why a bully would find the smallest kid to pick on to try to impress girls. One time when someone was picking on me in front of a few hot girls i asked them if it impressed them that someone twice my size was trying to pick a fight with me. they laughed and said no and it just made them think he was pathetic. well that did it. he threw a punch wich i ducked and did a great 2 leg takedown. he hit his head on the floor and i got on top of him. just to be pulled off by a teacher. It was great everyone gave the guy shit for weeks.

Waggy your story reminds me of freshman year HS. I had a good friend Tony who was exactly your size. I was 5'11" and people would laugh at the picture we made walking the halls.
One day these BIG seniors shoved us into this blind locker alley, intent on stuffing us in the trashcan. Tony has his eyes closed but he threw two perfect elbow shots to the nuts and we both escaped in the confusion.🙂

Nope. I'm a pretty easy going guy and I was a lot bigger than my classmates in Jr. and most of high school. In college I hang with some Korean marines (one of which fought semi-professionally in Korea and Japan), so I don't have to worry about fighting. 😀

I've been in fights, but imo fist fights are for suckers. Knock the guy down and kick him in the guts or get him in a headlock and make him go to sleep.

Once I was in a would-be fist fight. The guy charged at me - I just kicked him in the chest and sent him flying.

I've had a few encouters but managed to talk my way out, never really wanted to fight.

I did punch a few people at various instances though, like this kid that kept hiding my lunch and thought he was so funny.

Lots.
Made the "Police Blotter" a couple of years back when I beat up my neighbor.
I realized quickly that I was too old/out of shape to fight. I had to end it quickly.

My motto now is on this shirt:

Just remember,
"I ain't as good as I once was, but I'm as good once as I ever was."

Damn...when I was a kid, (grew up in an Italian neighborhood in Springfield, Mass) we'd fight out of boredom. Not exactly "fight club," but just about every day we'd fist-fight. Sometimes, there'd be 2-3 fights going at the same time. We (usually) didn't get mad at each other, it was more like practice for when we REALLY had to fight.
There were no boxing clubs anywhere in the area or other outlets for our aggressions, so we took it out on each other.

Served me pretty well over the years. I never backed down from a fight, no matter how big the other guy was...and I rarely lost a fist-fight.

Studied Taekwando for 2-1/2 years until my sensei determined that I was "going down the wrong path" and kicked me out of the class...so I found another teacher...one who taught multi-discipline self-defense. He said that in a fight, you should never hit the other guy more than 5 times.

Twice (at the most) to knock him off his feet, once on his way down, and twice while he's on the ground to make sure he doesn't get back up.

Hand-to-hand combat in the Marine Corps was lots of fun for me....
Even though I was a small guy back then, (5-6" when I enlisted) I only lost one sparring match when the other guy, (over 6' tall) managed to carry me out of the ring...for a win...but he was bloodier than I was at the end.

Spent a bit of time in the "county cross-bars hotel" and fights were pretty common in there as well...usually over stupid shit...but you gotta stand your ground and defend what's yours.

It's nice being a quiet docile old fart...I haven't had to fist-fight in more than 30 years...although I still don't take any shit from anyone...except my wife...who always wins.

Never escalated enough to be a full on fist fight. I always managed to have some form of leverage available to me - bleachers/benches/track rails/hill/ect that I would simply push the would be thug into/over/down and then everyone would point and laugh at them. That ended any further fisticuffs pretty quickly.

At one of the neighbors we had boxing gloves for fighting and messing around.
John was bigger than Rod, and younger. Rod was an ass and always starting shit and going to the gloves.
They were boxing one day and Rod got in a few good jabs. John got pissed off and started tossing haymakers, which opened him up completely. Rod nails him real good on the chin and I'll never forget John standing up, quietly mumbling "oh no" and going over backwards. It was the funniest knockout I'd ever seen.
