Have you ever been in a fight before? (empty handed, weapons, sticks, katana etc?)

I fought a lot growin up also. I moved to the "big city" when I was 15, so I had to prove myself. The worst one for me was when I was walking home from a football game. I was walking through a parking lot when I heard someone yell "BITCH!" I turned around and saw about six guys running at me. I stepped forward and hit the first one I could. I took about 20 or 30 blows right after that to my head/back/chest. I pushed off and stepped back. They fofmed a neat little circle around me. Most of them were much bigger than me. The smallest one was smiling while this was all going on, so I stepped forward and hit him as hard as I could in his mouth. After he dropped, I ran through the gap it made. I was hurting for a while after that one.

Funny thing is that this happenned in a McDonald's parking lot. I ran into the McD's to try to get some help and there were 2 cops sitting in there. I saw them and told them what had just happenned (my nose was trashed and my eyes were already swelling up) and they just looked at each other. One of them mumbled something about "so much for our break" and they got up and pretended to go looking for the guys. They came back 2 minutes later and said they couldnt find them.

No, actually I was trying to get a woman out of a bad situation. She was living with this bunch a crazy Jar heads and I tried to help her out by finding her someplace else to live. They used to beat her up all the time, her and the other girls that hung out with them. She finally tried to kill herself by taking a lot of drugs and sticking her head in the oven. (She lived) Her main squeeze told all his buddies I gave her the drugs she took (NOT TRUE) and one night they caught up to me.

Long story, and one I have told on here before, so I wont get into it any farther than that this time.

I once threw a brick at someone's truck - then he came at me and I messed up him hardcore while his GF watched - after the fight she dumped him and left with me.

In reality I've only been in one fight and, contrary to the belief of this thread, the 6 years I spent in Karate helped me kick the guy's ass.

Cheers buddy, glad you made it through all that!

they say knowing martial arts can give you a false sense of security / confidence... where you decide to risk your life in situations that you shouldn't or didn't have to.

I'd still like to learn it to know it, but what's your thoughts on this ?

I took Tae Kwon Do for 7 years and Tang Soo Do for 2 years and American Martial Arts for another year. You know what I learned from it all. Nothing. In a real fight, none of that sh*t means anything. What matters is who's bigger, badder, and who can hit the hardest.

Really thats funny because my friend was approached not but two months ago by some guy in a club who tried to start stuff with him. My friend got thrown out of the club after the guy threatened him (the guy knew a security member so he didnt get booted.) On his way out waiting for his friends to find his other friend to tell him that they have to leave (they took one car) they guy who is by the way big comes out. Ryan tells him he doesnt want to fight a few times but the guy keeps approaching him.

Finally he uses the Brazillian Jiujitsu that he has learned at University Florida (they have a free club.) Double leg take down into a side mount w/ armbar.

I hate to say it but if youve been doing martial arts for 7 years and havent learnt anything you can apply to a real situation then youve gone to the wrong school.

I have been studying Weng Chung (sp?) for only a few months and while a LOT of the stuff is really difficult to apply (unless youre uber fast) the very first thing I learnt was proper blocking. If you hold your hand out at an angle on the center line the enemy will not strike you.

You also learn things like dont throw wide hook punches like you see in the movies - it has less force and takes more time.

Anywho I personally havent been in a fight since HS.

I'm suprised no one got this.

I didn't even see it!

imo, i think kendo or iaido is also very useful, its easy to find sticks laying on the ground and they could be instant weapons.

its actually very easy to conceal a katana, we have special bags for it which makes it look like a normal elongated bag for painting storage etc, when we are really in sH*T, its easy to draw out the sword.

thats how i got broke that guy's teeth, i simply drew the bokken and hit on his left jaw straight on

Been in a couple of fights.

They all ended within 90 seconds.

Most I ever got was a black eye from getting kicked in the face by a kid that was about 4 years older than I was when I was around 13 or 14 years old, plus he knew martial arts.

Not that I have any respect what so ever for anyone who claims to know martial arts.

I ended my first fight with someonw who was into MA by simply pushing him really hard with my right foot in the lower abdomen while he moved towards me in between school desks. He ended up burried under a couple of desks in the row of desks behind the row he was in. I got powerful legs. =p

My 3rd fight was with yet another MA who was really good at grapling and putting people into locks they couldn't get out of. Seen him do it many times to, at the time, my best friend. For some reason I got under his skin, like I do here to some people, and decided to come after me. He couldn't graple me to the ground or lock me up to get me to fall to save his life. Plus we were in a small school sports equipment room (8X6) full of equipment. I walked away with a bruise on my forehead from bouncing it off of a shelf when he first jumped on my back. He walked away with his life.

At the time I was in the military and while I was not trained in how to disable someone in this scenario I was well trained in how to use my head clearly. All I had to do was shift my weight completely to my upper body and and unlock my knees I had locked for stability and jump backwards. Because he was locking my joints he wouldn't have had a chance to unlock his body from mine fast enough. I would have broken his neck on the wall behind me. I debated doing it for over 30 seconds before I talked him off me instead.

I might have hated him for being a prick and trying to hurt me but wasn't worth killing him and having to face a military court. Let me tell you, that's one of the longest 30 seconds of my life. I saved his life, sort of speak, and he will never know. Such is life.

I grew up in a bit city. Elementary school fights were the norm. So were the high school fights. One of them messed up my nose - I was jumped by a street gang for a previous altercation with one of their members.

The latest fight was with some mexican dude who cut me off at a street light and yelled obscenities as if it was my fault. Jumped out of the car while the light was red and started hacking away at him. Then jumped back in the car and went away...

Overall, fighting --> not fun. I tyr to avoid it if I can.

How long ago was that car thing? And how old were you then/now?

Happened about a year ago. Was 24, now 25. In retrospective now that I think about it, was a pretty bad move. Normally, I don't give in to road rage, but that dude just blew the lid off. He yelled at me from his van, suggesting I'm being a wuss, and stuff, and why don't I come out of the car, and he'll show me. So I did come out of the car and punched this guy a bunch of times.

No, they kicked the SH!T out of me in the middle of a BUSY street, while people drove by.:Q:roll:

I was never in a real fight my whole life.

If you're really smart you figure out ways to avoid such things.

Plus i'm a major wuss. I've seen fights and they look pretty scary.

I don't get excited like some people do watching a fight, they make
me sick to my stomach.

I used to get in fights. The last real fight I was in was my freshman year. Crappy fight and I lost. Ever since I started training, I've been able to walk away from several fights without killing anyone. 🙂 However, I've been in several hundred fights in the ring. I used to go every Friday night to full contact night at my school. 😀

parody, right? 10/10 😀

Never got in any real fights but I've received several death threats from guys don't have a sense of humor 😛

So you plan to be carrying around a bag all the time? You'll look awfully funny.

Me, I'll just stick to using a loose shirt to conceal something much better.
