Pretty sad when you are watching COPS and you say...

"Hey, that looks just like my front door!"

in my case they had these emails from somewhere like hotmail or yahoo and my ip was there. unfortunately, the cops in my situation didn't understand that with about 30 minutes in photoshop i could have made their ip addresses appear on those emails. they took all my computers and put them through the tests at the crime lab. so i, like others in this post, would question all forms of "evidence" if on a jury.

story?

here is the short summary to 2+ years of law enforcement b.s. and thousands of $$$$ in attorney fees:

"somebody" in my residence was supposedly sending another person harassing emails. no death threats, just talking sh!t. the police took my computers, but never found anything. total pain in the @$$.

now when anybody comes over and knocks loud on our door, i still jump out of my skin. it is definately not a good feeling when you live in america and somebody can come in your home and take stuff because another person accuses you of something that either wasn't/isn't true or not that bad. whatever happend to freedom of speech?

Damn, that really sucks. If you're truely innocent, I bet you could sue.

i probably could have, but i just wanted this to go away...

Any lawyers in the house? I don't think they can get a search warrant on the basis of an anonymous tip, and if they can....that sucks.

No you won't. And if you did, you'd A) Get your ass kicked, B) Get your ass rammed (in jail), and C) get your ass(ets) siezed. :p

I am not a lawyer but I know for a fact that yes, they can get a search warrant on the basis of an anonymous tip and yes, they do that on a daily basis.

Right.

Heaven forbid we hear the other real horror stories like all the times that something bad actually does happen to people and the cops couldn't give a sh!t, something that has happened more than once to me personally.
Do any cops wanna know why the public at large doesn't like them anymore? That's simple, because the only "justice" that police care about is making some kind of easy arrest, whether they have evidence or no. Actual police work is just too much of a pain in the ass for them I guess.
And no, I've never been the target of a police raid. But I have been a crime victim more than once, and the only thing being a victim has taught me about police is that they are mostly incompetent assholes who refuse to actually work for a living.

Stupid teenager story, not a police raid, but closest I ever got to one.

One time one of my friends stole a cigarette box from Costco and then when we left a bunch of security guys came running after him and he was brought down to the floor. Rest of us were laughing because it looked like a scene from a movie.

Someone annonymously reported that I was an abusive father and that my home was unsafe for children. CPS stormed in with the police to examine my house and the kids. They were ready to take my kids if they had bruising and said as much. (BTW, I have 3 boys, they ALWAYS have bruising!) But thanks to divine providence, my wife has been in bed for like a week (very ill) and so they boys weren't allowed to play outside. It was the only time in their life they didn't have bruising since they had been stuck inside playing video games for a week, instead of playing with swords in the yard!! (hey, video games saved my family!! hehehe)

Anyway they did find several official reasons they were going to take my children if I didn't move them into another home that day. They were all crap and blew over in a few weeks. Point is they COULD have taken my kids, for no reason, with no evidence, on the word of an annonymous tip. -without the kids admitting any abuse, without checking hospital records for frequent 'accidents', without asking my neighbors. Nothing but an annonymous tip and the opinion of a 22 year old girl with a degree and no kids herself! THAT is BS!

That actually happened to my mom. She was a foster parent when i was younger and we would take in a lot of neglected kids. The majority of which were black. Our neighbor 2 doors down was a racist @$$wipe, and didnt want the kids in "HER" neighborhood. So she called DHS(department of human services) and said my mom was beating us. They took all of us kids into seperate rooms and pretty much bombarded us with a million questions trying to trip us up into saying yes our mom hits us. But my parents never laid a hand on us. They made our life a living hell for 16 hrs. and then they pulled 2 innocent kids(foster) out of our home because they said there were signs of abuse based on the behavior of the children. DUH.. they are in foster care.. ofcourse they will have behavior and emotional problems. The report was annoynmous.. but the stupid neighbor was so proud of herself that she went around blabbing to everyone enough to be able to sue her. .... end of story.. we moved.

ya,

me and my pals were bored one day so we went to the mall and pretended to kidnap one of us... (i know it was dumb, but we were young, bored fetchers) well we were all like "sweet man, that was fun" then we went and got lunch. After lunch we decided to do it again, and this time a few security gaurds came running up and were like "whats goin on here?"... and one of my pals was like "lets get outta here!" so without thinking we all run away (carrying my friend being kidnapped, and pretending to punch him) to our car (we threw my friend being kidnapped in the trunk).

Well, very much to our surprise (

) about 10 miles away from the scene we had about 6 cop cars corner us and get out with there guns drawn and had us get down on the ground with our hands above our head (by this time we had let our friend outta the trunk)

I'd say no less than 4, one of them I had my face pushed into nasty carpet :disgust: with a shotgun stuck into the back of my neck. Needless to say I was little wild in my younger days.

edit: Well.... after reading some of the lame stories in this thread I figured I should give one up. We used to hang out at one of those houses where three of your buddies lived in a rental house and nobody gave a crap what it looked like and it was pretty much a constant party, one of the roommates sold buds & whatever to suppliment his managers job at Dunkin Donuts (lol) and he was pretty open about it.

One night there was about six of us hanging out and we were just about to watch a movie and I see someone run by the window (driveway was about six feet down from window where I was sitting) and then another couple run by and both have shotguns and one has a blue POLICE jacket on and the other is in cop riot gear. I jump out of my seat and yell " RAID!, cops and guns outside!" and everyone else jumps up and doesn't know what to do, right then we hear a BANG, BANG BOOOOOM "POLICE SEARCH WARRENT EVERYONE DOWN DOWN DOWN!!" and two of my friends try to go out the front door while the cops are coming in the back (like they wouldn't have the front door covered, lol) and then there was shotguns and .38's everywhere and we were all smacked into the nasty a$$ never vaccuumed carpet and handcuffed with guns to our heads.

After hanging out in a cell for a while and getting fingerprinted and questioned they let me out with a ticket for "loitering in illegal domain" or something like that and a couple of my friend got possesion tickets. After that we all went right back there to check out the house, the loud banging was them bashing in the door with a ram (it was unlocked, rofl) they COMPLETELY trashed the house, worse the we ever could have :D, so we cleaned it up.....and watched our movie.

The end.

Where are police required to *stop* crime? What exactly is "actual police work", since you seem to be quite the expert? They can't be everywhere at once...and that's one reason I'm a firm supporter of concealed carry handguns.

Your post is quite insulting to police officers, and I'm sure there are at least a few here. My dad is an ex-cop, and I have a friend who's dad is a GPD officer & is also on their fast response team.

If you've been a 'crime victim' more than once, take some serious firearm training and start carrying.

why the public at large doesn't like them anymore?
When did they like them to begin with?

I got drunk and got into a bit of a fight with a cop at his birthday party....lets just say there were 50+ cops ready to lay the smackdown on my poor civilian ass by the end of the night.
Yes, I was 17 (underage) and stupid.

This happens a couple decades ago, but I still remember it fondly ....

Two days before my brother was to be married, the "Metro Squad" (now they'd call it a "Drug Task Force") busted in the doors of his house and began searching. They found a small quantity of Pot and some paraphenalia. They kept calling him by the wrong name, he kept correcting them.

After about an hour or so, another cop comes in whispers something to the other cops. They all gather up their stuff, apologize, warn him to stop with the drugs (the Pot), and wander off (with all of the doors broken).

Apparently, they REALLY wanted the person in the apartment upstairs, who was by many descriptions, a fairly large dealer (and who heard / saw what was happening downstairs and flushed the evidence).

Moral of the story: If you live in a house-turned-apartment, know who your neighbors are....(the landlord was pretty PO'd about the doors too. He went after the city to recover damages (and IIRC, got 'em).

Life in the early 70's, what a hoot......

FWIW
