Have you done everything you wanted to do in your life?

I have a lot of things I want to accomplish in my lifetime here. I want to tour with my band, promote bands, buy and sell real estate, trying to DJ a few higher profile gigs, and the biggest one: travel the world (thanks to puffff). I have also dreamed of going to medical school to become a doctor or a nurse. I guess the good thing is that I'm only 22 and have a lot of time left to do all of this... 🙂

I have begun to do these things... but it will be a very long time before any of them is really complete. Travelling the world will take some time because I am trying to save a lot of money right now.. it will probably be years before that happens. The music stuff will come quicker, and is nice because I can do all of that in our region (Midwest) -- likewise with buying and selling real estate. Becoming a doctor or nurse will take years. Lots of undergrad is already completed, but still would have to finish chem/phys/bio requirements and so on, so forth... this will probably never happen but I am okay with that.

Settling down doesn't necessarily mean getting married and having kids, but rather it could mean just getting to the point in your life where doing these things is not possible anymore, or a point where maybe you feel like you are too old to do them.

Just wondering where the population of AT sits here. Have you done everything you wanted? What are your dreams and aspirations?

I haven't done anything. I don't know what my dreams or aspirations are. I want to make a lot of money. That is my aspiration.

I have done a lot, want to do more...

However, just because one "settles down" doesn't mean life has to stop or dreams have to be pushed aside.

No it doesn't.. but it does sort of mean that adventure is out of the question. I guess... not entirely, but any adventure on a large scale.

Nope, and that's why I'm traveling now. I have a big list of places I want to go to before I settle down. I'm finally dating a girl with similar intentions. Her and I both want to go all over the world. Other then that? Eat a whole cookie cake and gallon of milk, that's all I got.

No it doesn't... not unless you want it to be. Stop making excuses. We lead our own lives and the choices we make are our own. Life is amazing and should be savored no matter the age or time in someones life.

Settling down WAS one the things on my to do list. Adventure is not out of the question with the right partner. Mine would go anywhere and try anything I wanted and is just as likely to suggest it herself.

adventure isn't out of the question until you have kids 🙂

As long as you have the money, settling down (i.e. getting married and buying a house), there isn't any reason you can't do any of those things.

If you are lacking money, however, it usually becomes problematic to afford a house payment and still travel the world, etc...

I've done some things, but definitely not everything that I want to do. I still want to do stuff like traveling and starting my own business.

More of a rhetorical question, but, why would you ever want to settle down?

What is the definition of settling down? It may be different for everyone...

Wanna travel with me KT? HMM? or are your adventures of another nature?

Not even close, but then, as long as I am always coming up with exciting new things to accomplish and experience throughout my entire life, I think I will be satisfied.

Already done:

Completed Bachelor's Degree
Competed on Varsity track and cross-country teams
Gone sea-kayaking
Ate a live insect (termite)
Gone zip-trekking, including rapelling off a waterfall
Gone snowshoeing
Lived in my own place
Backpacked in Europe (3 months) - will do this again in the future
Landed a permanent tech writing job

To do:

Run my first marathon (will do this in May)
Write a book
Learn to ride a mountain bike on "real" trails
Climb Macchu Picchu
Travel in Australia
Get married (although I'm in no hurry lol)

Probably the stereotypical portrayal, which involves buying a nice suburban home, having 2+ kids, getting a minivan/SUV, etcetera, etcetera.

Haha, yes, of a different nature. Though I do still have a long list of places I need to travel to.

That is what I was thinking as well...i think the kid factor is what really makes you 'hunker down'.

I'd like to backpack again during the summer this time...I have only done winter trips to europe...hit south america, south africa, japan, and a few other places.

I'd also like to go on a safari through the rain forest.

Vancouver Marathon? If so, that will be my first as well. How's your training coming along?

I will never be done with doing all that I wanted to do in life, but I'll be content with what I've done so far if I laid down tomorrow and rest forever. BTW, you're never really "settle down", there's always something else to do.

Trust me.... "having kids" is hardly "settling down" It's a whole new adventure that many many people can't handle.
