Have you done an LOTR Extended Edition marathon?

This adds up to 681 minutes of Peter Jackson goodness, or about 11.4 hours.

Have you taken up sword and defended the Free Peoples of Middle-Earth? Or have you cowered into a cave, rocking back and forth in the fetal position, meekly answering "Gollum"?

Choose well and discuss.

I have done this marathon twice in my life, and will be doing it again this weekend. 😀

I ALMOST went through an extended edition marathon, after reading the entire book series over the summer. I watched the whole extended versions of Fellowship and Two Towers, but then it got too late for me to finish Return of the King. This was like last Saturday. I have yet to watch Return of the King... I'll probably do it tomorrow.

Prior to reading the book and this extended edition watch-through, I've seen the movies twice, the first two on DVD, the third when it came out, and the second run-through was a three-movie-marathon.

That sounds like a true nightmare. I had a hard enough time staying awake during the theatrical release of the first one - the idea of watching dance mixes of all three is about as appealing as an 11-hour root canal.

Fantasy bores the hell out of me. As much as the first 3 episodes of Star Wars suck I'd rather watch those 6 films than LOTR.

I had about 10 people over to watch the first two EE's before going to the theater to see RotK when it came out. Talk about a long day. We started at 10AM and with bathroom breaks etc we didn't get back form the movie until well after midnight.

What sucked is that the picture and sound were better at my home theater. 😉

Last time I watched all 3 (EE) it took me about a month. One DVD a day with a bunch of days off. I would hate the series for the rest of my life if I watched them back to back to back.

Like someone else I did FOTR and TTT on one day and ROTK on another.

I've also done the first 8 episodes of Band of Brothers in one day and the balance on the next. I actually think I liked that better for a marathon.
