You could come to Thailand and spend your days surrounded by 100 guys per cell. It gets hot also. Typically a day might reach 95 degrees, and the nights are about 75 degrees. Must stink!

If you want a TV show that gives a reasonable idea of what prison is really like I'd go with Lockup Raw.


In reality most of the stories you hear about prison are just that. I know a few people that have done some time and the worst thing about it according to them is the extreme boredom. Yes crappy food shitty living conditions and occasional violence happen but these days most prisons are locked down so tight that they are a relative rarity.

What you said is true. Also, rape doesn't happen as frequently as we think. Actually, it hardly happens at all. Also, the inmates in jail have medical and it's probably better then what you have.

Actually the medical service is decent for basic (read: cheap) medical care but at least here in Connecticut if you require complex (read: expensive) medications and/or treatment they'll go all-out to avoid providing it.

What you said about rape is however true thanks to the Feds threatening to cut funding to prisons that didn't take steps to prevent it.

Ultimately prison in the USA is all about the money these days & that's the core of the problem. Every state has profitable deals to provide clothing, food/commissary, telephone and anything else inmates need & private prisons only make the problem worse.

I visited a friend who was in prison once.

They do not like it if you have booze or weapons in the trunk of the car.
 
I know someone who just got out of Fed prison camp and have had the opportunity to hear what daily life is like... without any details I can tell you that it's not what you think nor is it an enjoyable place to be.

I dunno. we had no weapons with us, but we had a cooler with a dozen or so beers in it that we planned to drink later in the day. They were in the back of the car, and the car was locked. its not like we tried to smuggle some beer into the prison.

It worked great in alpha 24, had 790 prisoners crammed into a prison with only 150 cells and that large holding cell :biggrin: Made 3 million quickly and sold that snakepit to start afresh.

The current alpha 25 brings a few difficulties though, first being prisoner traits like legendary prisoners, instigators, volatile etc. Also prisoners can now starve to death which wasent a problem before. So cramming them all in a holding cell would be more difficult than before. Worth a shot though.

My impression is that some prisons are better to be locked up in than some jails, like dade county, oakland, LA, etc. The gang population is high yet they are extremely overcrowded and under staffed, and in outdated facilities. No such thing as a cellie when you share a room with large groups of people, or get stuck in an overcroded converted gymnasium with a few hundred others or more.
 
Almost went to prison. And that's all I'm going to say...

My cousin back in Chicago went to Stateville. He never seen rape shit, but there were homos that wrapped towels on their heads and acted like, well homos/woman. He said they were "disgusting." You take a shower once a week and you barter and trade like a mother fucker. He said he never seen so much trading and bartering. You learn to make a stinger with a nail clippers and boil water. You guard your shit or someone will steal it because a lot of those F-ups don't have much. He once said a black dude made him dump his food lunch tray, but he just bit his lip as he just wanted to do his time. My cousin is a tough bastard and was a bouncer. So that fool would have had his neck broke. In fact, he protected a guy who was sick in bed in jail before he was transported to prison. This huge black dude was picking on him in bed and my cousin said WTF are you doing and the black dude went to hit my cousin and my cousin blocked his punch and in the process broke his finger. But my cousin slugged him. When my cousin went to prison his hand was bandaged and the fucker security guards that check you when you first enter told him he had to remove the bandage.

He doesn't like to talk about his stay in Stateville, so I don't bring it up much. Stateville is where john Wayne Gacy was at.

Do you wanna know why my cousin went to prison? Drunk and backed into someone. He was supposed to be in a low security prison and the fuckheaded judge threw his ass in a medium max. I guess at the time it was a medium max and upgraded it to maximum.
