Have you all noticed that these "Boy Bands" always have the one token ugly guy? ;)

You guys know what I'm talking about. Of the 2 boy bands that I know (Nsync and Backstreet Boys), and 98 Degrees (I don't consider them boy bands b/c they can actually sing and they don't dance around like hyper chimps).

Anyway, have you noticed that there is ALWAYS one guy that seems out of place? Either too old-looking, too fat, or just plain fugly With Nsync, there's that pudgy porcupine-haired mofo and with 98 Degrees, it's that "other" guy that just doesn't seem to fit in with the rest of the group.

Anyway, just an observation

I love how it was supposed to be a spoof on boybands, and due to the boyband hysteria they became a hit. Very good idea of the average MTV watcher mentality....they don't even know when they're being mocked.

1) The cute little guy.
2) Two manly guys.
3) The dork.

For one, he asks for it. Bad. And really, I dont see why deeko can take good natured heckling better than other people reading it. Seems he has the thicker skin. Just an observation.

You gotta have guys that cover the spectrum, so that they can attract as wide a spectrum of fans as possible. I wonder how long before we have a member or two who is gay.

I wish they were all ugly--maybe then their fans might actually concentrate on what (should be) the important thing--the music.

It's true--video killed the radio star. Being physically attractive seems to hold more weight than if you have any true musical talent or not. It's like no one seems to care that all you need to be in a boy band is a decent singing voice and a pretty face. Sometimes you don't even need the former. Musical talent is an afterthought! Look at Britney Spears (I'll be the first to admit that she's really attractive, but have you ever heard her sing live? Yikes!)

I'm glad we're moving past this sad era in music. Long live the singer-songwriter!!!

It's just that kids/teens see popularity in &quot;pop music&quot;. Everyone else listens to them, maybe if I do also, I'll become a mainstream teen and be accepted. Most kids are insecure at that age and are still looking to find themselves. Most don't have a view of themselves and don't want to feel unaccepted. Heck, most can't stand on their own and would crumble if left alone.

Pop music only fills that group of people who are insecure and need to feel like they are a part of something.
