Have you checked the BIOS settings to see how you have the case switch set up? Maybe try this. Shut down as normal and when it says "It is now safe to turn off you computer" hold the case switch in for more than four seconds and see if it shuts off instead of restarting. This will give an idea of how it is set up in the BIOS if this works.

another idea for you is in the bios under power management...one option is phrased something like "status after shutdown", and if you set this to "on" then anytime your system restarts or reboots it will stay on but may or may not go into your os...check for this option and set it to "off"...

i changed this once thinking it was for accidental shutdowns due to power spikes and what-not and had the same problem you reported...

sorry that i couldn't go into my bios to give you more exact information but am downloading something that won't resume...

hope this helps

I've found from past experiences that reinstalling an operating system will sometimes cause problems like this. Reformat and if the problem persists then its a bios problem, but I'm guessing it just needs a fresh start.

The warm boot prob is common with the MSI from what I've read. I've seen several advertised "solutions" ranging from playing with your voltages to cutting the heads of live chickens.

One thing I do know...make sure you plug all your fans into the PSU loom...the K7T is very picky about mobo juice. I was running a couple of fans off it and it wouldn't load the bios.

Check under the Device Manager in WinMe to see if your system was installed as ACPI or APM. If it is either of these then it should shutdown, but like others said the bios for the MB might be buggy. Also, if you hold the button down for 5 seconds instead of pushing and releasing does the system shutdown instead of restarting?

In device manager if you double click on "Computer" it might say ACPI computer or APM computer or something like that. If it is nto ACPI then you might want to go into the power control panel and enable APM support.

I know been mentioned before but the newer machines this is usually a bios setup issue.
Removing apm (advanced power management) from device manager and reboot will reinstall apm.
Also on newer machince you have to hold in the power button for 4-10 seconds for the machine to shut off, I had a similuar problem but mine was in the bios so gluck.
