Question Have they stopped making GTX 1660 Super?

I know it is nearly impossible to get one without paying triple MSRP, but does anyone know if these chips are still being made? I dont think they have anything else in that price range, so I would think so, but what do I know...

They pop up from time to time, "Sold by Newegg", for only around 50-60% market over MSRP (Newegg's own gouging), versus ebay's nearly 100% mark-up (scalper prices).

In short, I've seen 1660 Super and 1660 ti cards go for $400-450 on Newegg, from Newegg themselves.

Now if only RX 5700XT cards would show up, I could stand to pick up another couple of those babies...

Yeah I have seen that too. What I am asking is if they are still making the chips (for new cards obviously). The ones we are seeing at retailers could be old stock and not representing current production.

I guess the question is, has Nvidia discontinued this product?

I actually just bought one Saturday to throw in my wife's PC because the new card I'd put in doesn't have DVI and that meant I had to swap out her 27" 1440p Korean dual link only monitor for my old 43" 4k and she hated it. I had to get a stock tracker notification of it though since the 1660S still pop up but is not at all common. I doubt they're making them anymore.

I had the same problem shopping for a 1660ti, hard to find one that had a DVI connection. My monitor is getting really old but I hate to replace something that works good enough.
The adapters work but they tend to randomly fail.
I am sticking with my goal of I’ll go 4K (I have modified this to include 2k) when I can get a decent screen and decent video card to power it for ideally $500, absolutely no more than $600.

I doubt AMD are even making them anymore now that the 6700XT has dropped and wafers are being devoted to production for Navi 23 chips that will replace the 5700XT.

Any that do show up are going to be third party and likely over $1,000.

I snagged 2 online today from Zotac on eBay today. There were 110 sold and 3 available, and I was able to get 2 (one for me, one for my son). I hope they dont suck. Price was awful, but not scalper level awful.

My 1660ti is great for 1050P, I assume this covers 1080P too.
Super is basically identical.

Jesus Christ, people are actually paying ~$550 for used 1660 Supers on ebay. Even though my backup gpu is a GeForce 8400GS that can't even run 1080p youtube well I really should sell my 1660 Super. And then buy a $200 RX 570 4GB since the only things I play on PC are easy to run Japanese RPG like Persona 4 Golden and Persona 5 Strikers and then easy to run Japanese visual novels like Phoenix Wright and Danganronpa.

It's a pretty good card for 1080p. I just finished a long playthrough of RDR2 on mine a couple of months ago and the card handled it like a champ. Was able to run it 1080p60 with the tweaks to settings that Hardware Unboxed recommended (great youtube channel btw, check their two videos on the game if you want to play it) and it looked spectacular. Enjoy, they're nice cards.

Yeah my fantasy plan would be to sell it for $600(ish), put in a 2012 card deal with it for a year or so then use the $600 to purchase something kickass when prices stabilize.
I hate how there is so little progress in video cards now, I miss the days of every 12-18 months you could double your power for $200. Since this is the normal now, buying an $800 card when the market stabilizes could literally get me a decade of good performance.

290x is the value play imo. Or 1060 3GB for less oomph but way more efficiency. Both doubled in price - to about $150 if you shop a little. Or even less if you try harder.

1060 3GB is fine for 1080p low to medium, older games even higher so long as 60 FPS is the target. I am running a number of both cards now and can confirm they are “fine” as in very serviceable.

I am really surprise they aren’t more sought after as the budget gaming option right now - don’t they embarrass as 1050ti? You know, the $300-$400 one 😂

My previous build was an i7-4790k with 2 GTX 950s. My monitor was 60Hz so it wasn't a big deal. I got the bug to update and in April 2020 I settled on an ASUS ROG Strix GTX 1660 Super Advanced w/6GB GDDR6 for $249+tax from Amazon. I wanted the 2060, but it was over $100 more and I could not justify it. In Jan I upgraded the rest of my computer and wish I'd have gotten a 2060 or 2070, when they were available. I am pleased with the 1660 Super, although I have the bug to get a 3070 now as it would take advantage of my new monitor. Why do we do this to ourselves??? I should stop reading tech websites and watching Linus on YouTube.

GPU progress is still much better than CPUs. Moving from my 1070 to a 3070 is more than double the performance at 1440p (2.1x to be precise). I overpaid for it, but not much ($629 USD) and I've made more than double the difference back already with it's Eth mining performance. My Ryzen 3600 OTOH was not much of an upgrade from my OC 4670k, and the 5600x I currently have is pretty much a side-grade to the 3600 (at 1440p).

You are right however that there really isn't any need to get even a 3060ti/3070 depending on the games you play, and the resolution/fps. I hope to keep this one gaming for 10+ years.
