Have not played Counter Strike in 2 years - how are cheats ?

The reason I stopped playing CS was because cheats were rampant and everywhere and when Valve decided to do nothing about it like give the boot to bunkpuster which in turn became evenbalance with Id purchased it. When Id put punkbuster in wolfenstein it was so fun to play because there were practically no cheats out there.

Now with HL2 out I've been reading several game forums and it seems as if nothing has changed, everybody is saying that there are cheats in every server, it's out of control and that VAC can't even stop them since nothing is being done about it. Is this true, is Valve after two years still inept and useless at preventing cheats.
 
The only ones I ever see are the speed hackers and they still suck. I don't see them often though and its ussually only there for like 15 minutes or so and leave. This is for CS:Source, not the original CS.
 
They are all still around, aim bots, wall hacks, speed hacks and such.

Just find a good server that have admins around to prevent people from staying that use them.
