Have i installed my floppy incorrectly?

hi, i connected the IDE ribbon from floppy to motherboard, and one of those small 4 pin power supply cables to the floppy.. When i boot machine, the light on floppy is permanantly on, and when i go to acces the drive in windows, it says please insert a disk into drive a lols.

appreciate a little help ta

Try reversing the cable. First on the floppy and if that fails, on the MB.

Make sure all pins make contact.

edit: I mean the flat cable.

Yes, you have the cable reversed at one end or the other. There should be a pink or other color line on one edge of the cable. That edge is supposed to connect toward the pin-1 end of the connector on both the drive and the mobo. You may have to pull the drive out to locate which edge of the connector is pin-1. When I have a floppy out of the computer case, I always take a fat Sharpie and mark the floppy drive's chassis on the top, bottom and end near the pin-1 so I can easily find it again whenever I need to.
