Have I Installed Everything That I Need For Vista?

I just finished installing Vista Business 64bit last night, and I wanted to make sure that I have all the fixes/drivers that I needed to install. Below is a list in order of what I did.

1. Reformatted Hard Drive
2. Installed Vista Business 64bit with out activation with only 2GB
3. Installed storport hotfix
4. Installed another 2GB of RAM making 4GB total
5. Installed nforce_winvista64 15.08 chipset drivers
6. Installed drivers for my GPU
7. Installed drivers for my sound card, mouse/keyboard, etc.
8. Activated Vista
9. Installed updates 5 at a time then running sfc/scannow after to make sure they installed right.

That?s everything that I have done. Are there any other drivers or hotfixes that I need to download and Install. If so can you put a link to them and briefly say what they are for. Thanks for the advice in advanced.
 
There is this optional hotfix that's not included in Windows Update,I have installed it and had 0 problems with my Vista x64.

? A compatibility issue that affects some third-party antivirus software applications.

Don't forget to test out your PC in gaming etc to ensure stability is fine,btw I hope you got an anti-virus/anti-spyware software installed too ;.
 
What is a good free anti-virus program for Vista 64bit? I was using Symantec originally because I got it free from my school, but they don't have a 64bit version.
 
I'd pick Avira, enable Expert Mode, max out all detection capabilities in both the real-time and scanning sections, and especially the heuristics.
 
Never heard of Avira before, I was probably going to go with either Avast or AVG just because I've used them before and know how good they are. I'll look at Avira to see what it's like.

Yeah, Avira ~ AntiVir. Its detection rate is better than AVG or Avast in my experience. Significantly better.

If you're interested in security, keep UAC enabled (it's enabled by default) and you can then run a non-Admin user account with almost no gotchas :thumbsup:

Since you have Vista Business, you could even add Software Restriction Policy if you want to. I use it, and there are a couple of minor downsides, but since I am working with malware files routinely it makes a nice "safety." It also puts another hurdle in the path of the bad guys.
