140+ in a '02 Maxima SE on a roadtrip.

150+ in a '02 Z06 being stupid.

My friends strangely trust me to drive their cars at higher (read : insane) speeds than they trust themselves.

Personally, I sadly lust after the speed... I'd love to take any car out and max the living crap out of it.

85 in my '90 mercury sable b/c i wouldn't trust that POS over that
120 in my 2.5 rs (b/c thats where its limited to)

rode in a 3 series at about 135
and in a x5 at about 140-150 going through france

130mph in my Mom's Maxima. That was one of the dumbest things I've ever done. We were racing and weaving in and out of traffic going to prom...

In my car, 114...that's where the limiter kicks in.

somewhere in the 110-120 range in my '98 civic lx sedan (as soon as i got up there i let off the gas and let it quickly lose speed)...

i don't think i've ever been over 100 in my '03 civic lx sedan or '93 maxima (struts in the maxima are shot, so driving in general has to be done at a relatively slow pace 🙁)

I just got pulled over on the way home from work (11:30PM).

It's way to tempting coming home this late. There is hardly anybody on the road. I've only been on this shift for a week and a half, but I've been doing 50 in a 40 to the 101, 85 in a 65 on the 101, and 85 in a 75 on the 10. I knew I was pressing my luck every time, but I always kept my eyes open.

Right as I'm about to get off at my exit, I see a cop car in front of me while I'm doing 85. I thought, that was close, as I take my exit. I turn right off the ramp, and left on to McDowell. I take off and was doing about 60 in a 50. All of a sudden a cop pulls behind me (different one) and turns on his lights. He comes to my window and asks me if I knew why he pulled me over. I said, I was speeding? He said no! Ha... and asked me if I thought that was a yield or stop sign back there coming off the ramp. I was dumb founded. He took my license, came back, and said hmm, you were speeding too.

He let me go, and I'm very grateful. I was just approaching a working zone too where the fines were double.

This was the first time I've ever been pulled over in the 5 years I've been driving.

Anyhow, the fastest I've ever driven is about 90. That feels like 120 in my Mustang. They weren't very aerodynamic in 66 so I haven't felt like pushing it any harder. Not on the street or highway anyhow.

I once drove at 140-150, it was hard to tell the speedometer only went up to 120 but I went a couple inches beyond that. This was on a stretch of interstate marked 55. I passed one car and I passed it so fast it scared me. I got to thinking about people changing lanes without knowing I was barreling down on them and thoughts of my tires exploding because they weren't rated for that speed and backed off. Made my 40 mile trip in way less than 20 minutes. 😀

I also drove my old Delta 88 Royale Convertible at 103mph(pretty much it's max speed) at night. That was a definite experience.

Back in 93' I believe it was, I was stationed in SanFran and would take the Motorcycle course at Sears Point. It was only $200 for the two day event and you rode their Kaw ZX7's. Top speeds were close to 170mph down the straightaway. I was there for 4 months and took the class 5 times. Man was it fun. I had my bike (a ZX7 as well) up to about 140. But I would never do that again unless I was on the track.

125 mph. Nobody around me. I won't scare people when they're around me and drive at ridiculous speeds. I plan on going faster sometime, but fact is I only do it when I've already scoped out a straight section of highway and can be reasonbly certain there are no cops there. It's fast only because most of us never drive that fast, but in the grand scheme of things it's not THAT fast. In a decent car it's quite safe and you can get up there and back down to 80 quickly enough that it's nothing to get too worked up over 😉

I cant beleive you americans drive so slowly 😀 140mph was the fastest in a hire car from my old job, fastest overall was 70 miles in 35 minutes. Got caught doing 97 with my provisional liscense, I had passed my test but not sent the documents off. I was going down the motorway and their was 3 trucks, I slipped past them downhill only to realise it was 2 trucks, 1 police car then the next truck.

Fastest: 155 in my 1976 280z

1996 S-10: Freaked me out when the governor kicked in at 100. :| I thought I blew the engine or something!

1983 VW Rabbit GTI: regularly ran way past the 80mph limit on the speedo. Got pulled over once, cop said I was doing 115. Keep in mind that this car had trashed front suspension and was rattling the fillings outta my teeth.

1986 Fiero v6: Have no idea. Stupid 80mph speedos. :|

1984 Volvo: heh. Right.

118 in my 300M ... and then the governer kicked in car had plenty of power to spare too ... stupid governer ...
about 108 in my old car (94 grand am W6) then the governer kicked in
a little over 100 in my mothers old car (96 ford escort) just seeing how far I could push it

I am almost sure that they were just trying to scare you. I took a drive with some detectives once to Manhatten to pick up my dad from work, so that we could drive back to brooklyn and go down to the station. They were going like 95 in a 55 and they didn't seem to care or watch out for anyone speeding. (BTW going 95 in a car w/ NO SEATBELTS sucks) This cab however almost hit them when switching lanes, and they flash their badges and they were like " Hey you wanna lose your licence??". I think that they are just scaremongers. BTW I was going to the station cuz some pricks stole my cell phone. GL
