Have to vent somewhere.

Have you had one of those days where you are pulled over and given a ticket... well, mine feels worse. I was speeding because there was another jerk on the road (that makes 2 jerks on the road?). All it takes is that, and things go crazy. Anyways, making it short, I passed the guy up and kept speeding for a couple of more miles. Lo and behold... an unmarked American car pulls up behind and flashes its light to pull over.

After he pulls me over, the 2 guys get out of the car and both are in white shirts and ties. I'm puzzled for a minute. I look at their badges hanging off their belts -- city police. I wondered if they were some sort of investigators. They told me about how I was speeding going 100mph and passing cars left and right. I explained that another driver got me aggravated. I said it was stupid of me and my fault for getting into that. He said he saw no other guy. So, of course, I get nailed for the event.

So, he asks for my driver's license and car reg. He did NOT ask for car insurance. He went back and ran a check I suppose. My record is clean, BTW. So, his partner comes back and asks if I have a concealed weapons permit? Baffled, I reply no, and that I don't have a weapon. What were they trying to do?

They discuss a little more back at their vehicle. After 2 minutes, the main guy comes back and hands me back my license and car registration. He says, "You are lucky you didn't get pulled over by the CHP (California Highway Patrol) because you'd be in jail right now. You 'might' be getting a citation in the mail." He immediately walks away back to his car before I could say anything else.

So, he never wrote anything up. I was expecting to sign something. So, I'm stuck wondering if I'm going to get a major ticket in the mail. This month of anticipation is going to suck. I've heard you can get up to $1000 fine and a 6 month or so suspended license for this stuff.

Don't get me wrong. I deserve a ticket but it ruined my day. All this out of a lousy minute of speeding. It's not worth it people!

Were you inside city limits? If you weren't, those cops had no juristiction if they were indeed city police. They could've still called the highway patrol about you though.

Oh yeah, fastest is 120+. Don't really know how fast since the speedo only goes that high.

125 in my g/f's car. That thing was still pulling strong. Girls shouldn't be allowed to drive cars that cool if they obviously don't appreciate them.

I think they were messing with you so that you don't speed again, seriously.

How fast have I driven? 65 MPH on the freeway (I'm 15 so still learning...)

You got off with a warning. It sounds like they were either looking for someone, or you just got thier interest.

I was within the city limits but was on the freeway. I was wondering about their jurisdiction because since this part of the freeway was within the city, perhaps they do have jurisdiction? They did not call the CHP (I don't think -- they let me go but said I might get a citation in the mail). My guess is they were hoping I was some sort of criminal?

If you were inside city limits, then you're in their juridiction. They were probably detectives and they don't usually carry ticket books like normal cops. That probably why they didn't write you a ticket right there. They just ran a check on the license and car to make sure you weren't wanted or the car was stolen.

115 in my old Accord. 95 is the most I've seen in my Porsches (I think the 914 only tops out at ~120, the 924S should be good for 134 with stock gearing). One of these days I'll have to see if I can get the Mark VIII to hit the limiter (130), but the tires on it right now aren't good above 112 and I can't afford track time.

So, I am probably screwed then. I assumed since they don't carry ticket books, they can still issue the ticket through the dispatch. *sigh* I hate having to wait, though. Of course, I'm still hoping for the best case: that they were telling me in a strong way to stop speeding.

125-130ish ONCE, in moderate traffic, crossing in/out of double yellow carpool lanes (on the 405 around Irvine, CA for those of you in the area)

Never again. Thank god I calmed down.

120+ on my bike which is much worse then doing 120 in a car... I'd say that I'd never do it again but I'll be on the track 10 or so times next year so yeah thats gonna be happening quite a few times:)

Maybe. It just depends on whether or not they feel like going through the trouble and the paperwork. Even if they do, they might be nice and give you a ticket for something less severe. I've had that happen. I got a little...err carried away one night and violated about five different laws. The cop was nice and just cited me for failure to stop.
