No we realized that this place has become hopeless and it just isn't worth the effort.

They always have been. The thing I notice is that I am getting MUCH better at ignoring bad behavior and making sure my posts are calm and clear. It's been good practice!

I actually think it's a lot tamer now than it was a year or so ago, but it WAS a bit nicer place when I first started (even before I was using this old handle actually.)

I think what's really helped calm OT down has been the creation of the News/Politics forum. I personally was getting tired of seeing the same political threads rehashed over and over cluttering up OT. For awhile it was fun reading, but after the 10,000th time it got old. There are plenty of topics that we see rehashed time and again in OT (YACT, YAGT, etc), but nothing seems to bring out the bitter hatred and divisiveness like anything remotely political. I'm glad it's got its own forum now.
