I'd spend 10+ minutes typing out friendly, informative responses to people's questions and I'd always try to avoid confrontation when jumping into a political or social issue thread. However, I've learned that if you want to spark discussion, your posts still need to be friendly and informative, but they also need to have some 'bite' in order to get noticed.

Whether that's a bit of anger in the post, or a bit of humor, it's definitely necessary if you want your handle known as a frequent poster. Just look at notfred. :)

you need to work up a great reputation to be considered as well. like wduaqnug. he gets all the attention around here.

Reputation? ::snort::

If wduckdung didn't post so much inane drivel that appears to have been written by a team of monkeys, he'd be just another faceless poster in a sea of thousands.

Its always easier for the a**hat to hide behind the anonymity of the internet. They can get away with it here, while in real life they probably got a good amount of beating if they dare open their little mouth.

Heh, I agree, people seem rude... but I never knew this forum "turned" rude, I've always thought that people are rude compared to other forums.

AT and the net in general is usually like that. People on the internet are generally pussies and talk sh*t that they wouldn't dare say in person.

thats what happens when you get a bunch of bitter, unemployed, dateless computer nerds. They won't stay nice for too long.

the internet became rude as the generation that was born cyber brought their immaturity onto the realm of electronica.

but i think you do really need a thick skin if you're gonna post on the internet. a really really thick skin for atot :p

the thing about ATOT is that you shouldn't give a sh!t what other forum users think of you. There's enough of them that not everyone will see a thread where you made a stupid comment. Unless you make a stupid comment in every thread and get a thread devoted to your stupidity like "wduqnaug" or whatever his name is.

Nope... it's always been this way. The only thing that's changed is your perception.

I think ATOT has gone downhill as of late. Maybe this is just a phase as I have seen them before but maybe it will stay and possibly get worse. All and all, this is still a great board but it used to be better.

It may just be me though...

I don't know the state of atot before but yeah there are a lot of very rude at'ers. But it's a common problem on the internet from what I've observed. I guess it's just that much easier to flame people over the internet.

With the internet, people are just free to say whatever they want w/o taking responsibility for it. Hide under cover of an alias. Not just talking about AT, but you see it everywhere. ESPECIALLY if you've done Customer Service for an Internet company. People talk a whole lot of trash (cussing, threats, personal attacks etc), but once you get them on the phone, they're suddenly very nice people.
