Have AT'ers become a lot more rude?

Is it me? Or is there a lot more AT'ers that are rude and obnoxious? Not to mention any names but it's just that when I first joined back in 1999 people seemed to be a hell of a lot nicer. Now I see a lot of short careless responses on people's threads. I remember good old folks like ViperGTS and Socgal, etc on the off-topic threads that made the forums more of a friendly community. It may just be me though...

No one is making you post here. If you don't like it you can hit the road, and don't let the door hit you in the ass on the way out.

No, not just you. Seems to be the case for society in general though.

Yeah, I think that it's just kind of a bad time for a lot of people, and I think people are tired of the same old questions over and over again.

Actually, it's the opposite. However, I can understand since your post count seems to suggest that you've been away for a while. If you were lurking for a long time but aren't afraid to post now, just maybe that's sufficient proof that the forum has gotten less hostile. If it were worse, then you would be too afraid to start this thread.

Oh, I had to wear a thick skin when I dived in here. Consequently some people have perceived me as feisty or mean-spirited, which I'm not. I can be saucy at times in real life to get my point across, but I'm hardly as perceived here. Perhaps I just got so used to the thick skin, but I'm of the opinion that the forum has actually become friendlier (or at least improved).

I don't know about Soc. Gal, but please spare me about ViperGTS. Don't try to portray him as some angel. If anything, ViperGTS was the impudent guy or perceived as an @$$ sometimes. There were those that perceived him as a really great guy, whilst to others he was not or he was sometimes not. Things in life are so relative. Your post and examples are proof. Hence, once again an answer to your original question.

Red Dawn, ViperGTs and other members I observed to be aggressors seemed to have calmed down. I guess we all get tired and retire our positions in life, sometimes. :p

Yes, a large part seems associated with the fanboys and there's also more plain trolls. Most of them appear not to be kids. That isnt half of it though, the majority seem more inclined to be very touchy and take anything like a personal attack.

thats true. thats true. also, in the forums, pimple faced scrawny geekos have a lot more gut to say things when they are hiding behind a computer monitor, they wouldnt say otherwise.

I was a really nice guy when I first registered. I'd spend 10+ minutes typing out friendly, informative responses to people's questions and I'd always try to avoid confrontation when jumping into a political or social issue thread. However, I've learned that if you want to spark discussion, your posts still need to be friendly and informative, but they also need to have some 'bite' in order to get noticed.

Whether that's a bit of anger in the post, or a bit of humor, it's definitely necessary if you want your handle known as a frequent poster. Just look at notfred. :)
