No, but a co-worker/acquaintance was. He had years of treatment by psychiatrists and psychologists, took many different anti-depressants, but eventually killed himself.

Ummm, you cannot be medically declared depressed for a period of time. You are either medically prone to depression, otherwise known simply as "depression" or you are not. You may feel depressed once in a while, but unless your brain shows some chemical symptoms, you are not considered medically depressed.
And, in my case, yes I am medically considered to have depression.

Sometimes I think I may be a touch bi-polar. One day I will be the happiest person on earth, and the next say just hate everybody and want to go get drunk.

now they are reporting that the anti-depressants may be the cause of some of the suicides especially in teens.

I was diagnosed with Clinical Depression back in 1994. With treatment it is under control. I still have the occasional replapse though, but atleast I can feel it comming on and deal with it.

That is a misconception. They are now saying that many of the recent new drugs could have unforeseen consequences, such as drastic mood swings. Many of the old standbys, like lithium and prozac, are still considered safe. The main point is that medication is not useful without other treaments, such as counseling and pyschotherapy.

Not diagnosed but since I became unemployed ~three months ago I have had many people tell me that I seem to have many symptoms of depression. Those people including a pharmacist and a nurse. I don't have medical insurance now, so even if I wanted to see a doctor/therapist I could not afford it.

Yes, i'm no longer on meds but I had been for 4-5 years.

I guarantee that at most workplaces atleast 50% of your co-workers take depression medication :(

More than half here are depressed? Wow.

Rest for the Weary (Matthew 11:27-29)

At that time Jesus said, ?I praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and learned, and revealed them to little children. Yes, Father, for this was your good pleasure.

?All things have been committed to me by my Father. No one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal him.

?Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.?
