No, this is not a joke, this is Apple's new product. Yup, it's a giant, buttonless trackpad. I'm sure it will sell millions.

No.

I believe that is based on the macbook (pro?) trackpad, which is top notch. The button is the whole pad. It is really intuitive once you use it for a bit.

Honestly, that's fucking awesome

I have a mac mini that I use as an htpc; right now I use a wireless mouse + mousepad on my coffee table, that would be siiiiiiiick

if it's got bluetooth + finger swipes then I'm fucking sold.

FYI you windows snobs, you can right click with 2 finger tap.

Yeah, I wondered at this too. I guess it'd be okay resting on your coffee table if you have a Apple HTPC (or if it's fully PC-compatible).

Trackpads all blow, except apples. unless you game a lot, their trackpad with gestures is really fantastic. If you already have a mouse you like, however, there's not much reason to get one.

When I swapped my mbp for an imac it made me miss the trackpad.

Isn't the whole point of intuitive that it should be intuitive from the start, not once you have learnt how to use it...?

i could see this being useful for htpc usage. much better than trying to mouse on the arm of a couch or a lap.

other than that, seems retarded. the trackpad on a macbook pro is amazing, but still not nearly as effective as a real mouse.

i asked about that thing in the apple forum yesterday. got far less troll posts about it, everyone agreed that its useless for anything that requires precision. some raised the HTPC point and that's understandable. most want it to use with native OSX features (gestures) and shit that are built in

So right-clicking is 100% more inefficient on a mac for the sake of Steve Jobs's Ego. Good to know.

Just ditch the mousepad if you're that worried about aesthetics.
