Since I'm new, I not sure where elevator topic goes.

I move to nice condo in Jackson Heights called Royal Diamond Plaza Condo, which is 6-story brickhouse with adding stairs to elevator maintence roof at Roof, it's about 8-story higher and you could see wonderful view of NYC.
My condo has only one elevator and often break down.

My condo supervisior is not always at front desk.

I do not carry any cell phone or ipod.

What happened if my elevator gets stuck when supervisior is not around.

My elevator has CALL button and ALARM button and also some kind "S" button right in between.

Can you tell me who receives the ALARM and CALL when you press them?

Thank you for your help and I'll be appreciated.

I am using stairs currently and I was just wondering if anyone got stuck.

There's some places that stairs are not public accessible.

For example, 168th St-Washington Heights Station on (1)-train and (A)(C) trains are elevator access between these stations and this station does not have public stairs, except for employees only.
What would I do if that happened to me?

Dude, just teleport. There have been a lot of improvements in the teleportation of humans the last decade. It really is harmless now, you should give it a try.

If you're interested in trying the teleport method give this number a call, 212-562-1000. They frequently have specials where you get a discount your first time.

I guess when you press call button you get someone in the building who manages it. When you press alarm fire or police might come.

I have no idea where the call button goes, but in my experience an alarm button will go to a 911/dispatch center.

No one will answer. You have to open the roof hatch and climb to the next floor and pry open the door to escape.
That's the way it's always been done. No reason to change now.

Besides, doncha know...if you don't have one of these:

Carry a 72-hour bag whenever you ride the elevator and you will be just fine.

Those are normally just standard telephones that are preprogrammed to call a certain number when picked up. Kinda like those phones for taxis you see at Walmart. Though I guess it depends on the elevator type. Some may have their own system that is internal and goes to security or whoever has a 24/7 job in the building.

I would not sweat it, being stuck in an elevator would be an adventure you can share with friends, ride it as much as you can. :D

The alarm button on the elevator runs an alarm bell either located on top of the car or inside the elevator shaft to alert people to the elevator in case of an emergency. Sometimes they can possibly wire up the alarm bell to another bell or something to alert someone directly, but in most cases, the button just sounds an alarm. The alarm is supposed to be hooked up to a battery circuit in case of power loss, so it will continue to work even though the power is out.

However, the phone located inside the elevator is programmed to call someone that will answer 24hours a day, so in case of an elevator emergency , the person can get help.

As Boomer said, a cell phone won't work in a elevator. Something to do with it being a metal box and likely grounded.
