Have any Visual Basic users switched to .NET?

I need to buy a copy of Visual Basic Professional for a user, but Microsoft has recently pulled the plug on VB6 in favor of Visual Basic.Net .

While I can still find copies of VB6, I'd like to know how much of a difference there is between VB6 and .NET. The user isn't a power programmer and I don't want to use .NET if there's a big difference in learning/using it.

Any insights appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Visual Basic .Net is much heavier on the OOP so it requires much more to learn it than does VB. I don't think it is suitable as a development tool for non-IT people but it really depends on the user. Most part-time VB people should stick with MS Access or VBA macros.

Thanks, KB, that's what I was afraid of. Now I have to find a copy of VB6 Professional somewhere...
