Grasshopper = dead for that comment if Thumper ever finds out. :Q (And FFS, put them all in one post, you friggin' nef. No wonder my postcount is so small compared to the rest of the community - I know how to make more than one consecutive coherent thought.)

There are three reasons cyclists shave their legs (in order of importance):
1. Much easier to clean up road rash after hitting the deck. If you race, you will crash, and trying to clean up rash on hairy legs is a bitch. We won't even get into how much it hurts pulling tape off hairy legs.
2. Easier to get a nice massage after working out without all that hair. Massage is an important part of recovery in cycling; all pro teams have a salaried masseur. The rest of us have to bribe our wives or girlfriends. 😉
3. The mental "edge". This is kinda hard to explain, but you "feel" faster with smooth legs (even though it makes almost no difference with regard to air resistance). Shaving legs is also a part of the road cycling culture, so it's arguably a rite of passage when one decides to "get serious" about cycling. I'm sure these seem like weird reasons to the average non-cyclist, but that's just the way it is, I guess. 🙂
EDIT- Fourth reason: muscle definition......chicks dig it. 😛

I doubt it. It'd be expensive as hell to get all the hair off a typical set of male legs. I'll typically shave once every other week or so with a razor in the shower and hit the stubble a few times in between shower shaves with an electric razor. I'd imagine it would take years and years of this to even come close to the cost of electrolysis.Originally posted by: Storm

Wouldnt it be a better idea to get electrolysis if you knew you were going to be serious about cycling? I mean good razors like Mach 3 are expensive? Wouldnt it actually save money in the long run?

LMAO! I mean, you've got several choices of foamy lubricants and an essentially unlimited supply of hot water.....is it really that hard to find things to do? 😛Originally posted by: Savij
