Have any of you ever considered this?

Have any of you ever considered getting to work an hour early just to avoid all of the rush hour traffic (Or at least most of it)? After that, sleeping at work or something...I don't know

I spend so much time frustrated and stuck in traffic that I'm really considering this.

no matter how early i plan to wake up, my body will milk every damn second available. and that's so i can show up 10-15 minutes late!

I have known a few people who do this and thought it was worth it. I would never do it, though.

Well yeah, but you sleep at work too. So the two sort of cancel each other out.

If it makes you feel better, in that hour, you can also drink at work and sexually harass someone...

I guess it would depend on how much time you would save. If you could save an hour a day it would be worth it. Can you work flex hours and just change your start time?

I do it occasionally. Fortunately my schedule often allows a fair bit of flexibility. If the job gets done it doesn't matter if it's 9-5 or 4am-noon. Traffic here in southern Connecticut can be awful if you're traveling south in the morning rush or north in the afternoon rush. When I've got to go that direction I go in early and leave early. There are quite a few days when I'm done and on the golf course by lunchtime.

At the place I interned two summers ago many of the people had long commutes. They would work 7-4 instead of 8-5 to avoid the traffic, and nobody minded.

It's easier to just get to work an hour late and leave an hour late so that you miss the traffic...

but I'm still at work :p

I'd much rather be sleeping at home or sexually harassing someone at home.

I like jobs with flexible hours so I can adjust my work schedule around traffic... I did that at a previous job, usually got to work around 10:00 :)

At my current job, I usually get to work at 7:30 and leave at 4:00. No traffic :)
