Have any of you ever bought a game system solely for the purpose of playing one game?

I'm thinking about doing this for Gran Turismo 4. I currently own an XBOX with about 30 games (including Forza Motorsport), but am seriously considering picking up a used PS2 just to play that game.

not really. but yes GT4 is one game that is really worth playing. even after i reached the point in life where i'm not really addicted to video games anymore, i still love to drive my Evo8 in game in infenion and nurburgring.

Looking back, I think the only game I could have bought a NES based on would have been the original Zelda...or maybe Ninja Gaiden or Final Fantasy...

Oh yeah...and I do recall searching very hard a few years back for a Sega Genesis just to play Pirates! Gold...but couldn't find a copy of the game so I aborted searching for the console

PS- Resident Evil and Wipeout, and soon found it was well worth FF7

PS2- I got for backwards compatibility and TimeSplitters,
but the only system I really honestly bought for just one game was N64 JUST for GoldenEye, cause, well that game did rock hardcore
