It is at 7:00pm central.

I can't remember what position I applied for. I applied online I think two or three weeks ago. I think it was a Geek Squad position, but I can't remember. After being numbed by all of the questions they ask, I couldn't even remember then, I assume.

Any typical things I should expect besides hating the job and wishing I never got into it in the first place? At least thats what I keep hearing about jobs there...

It really depends on what you are expecting.

If you go into it realizing that retail in general just sucks, then you won't be disappointed. But frankly, of the retail options out there, I thought BB was a pretty good option. I may have gotten VERY lucky with my managers, but I didn't dispise my job like so many of the folks on here seem too. Now don't get me wrong, BB isn't a place I wanted to stay too long at, and it was only a "right out of college" job for me, I was there managing their Geek Squad for 9 months until I found what I like to refer to as the "real" job. *evil grin* But those 9 months could have been MUCH worse. Got loads of good stuff REALLY cheap while I was there.

Well, I think what I'll do is just go into it expecting the worst. That way if it really does end up sucking, I won't be disappointed, and if it turns out really good, then I'll feel that much better.

Go for Mobile Audio. Slack as hell, easy sales, no pressure, no one bothering you.

Computers & Home Theater are high pressure and make or break the store's sales. Media is mindless, as is cashiering. Appliances you will kill yourself from boredom.

Geek Squad is meh, you have to deal with lots of red tape bullshit.

Good luck

What do you mean "red tape bullshit"? Like stupid rules and regulations you have to follow...?

Retail is fun if you want to have fun. You'll be surrounded by a bunch of 18-25 year olds, for the most part, who like gadgets, movies, music and games. Management is a holy pain in the ass, but that's almost universal anyways. :p

Things to expect: Learn how to attach. When you do your roleplay during the interview, realize that if a customer is looking for a new PC, this is an opportunity to attach more RAM, a better video card, anti-virus software, and on and on. Small items = high margin. Thus you want to helpfully attach small items wherever possible. This will make your managers and HR very happy.

I was kind of thinking of it like this, too--I'll enjoy the job as much as I let myself. We'll see...

I've been working at Best Buy for about a week, and just in the past two days I'm starting to get really bored. The first few days was fun and exciting, now it just sucks. Management is good, and the people I work with are good, its just boring. I work in HT, so there's demand to succeed, but our stores gets lots of customers, so we don't really worry about not making budget.

The interview (the first one) was pretty easy. Common sense questions like "What do you do if you see a fellow employee stealing?" Hint: It's not a trick question ;). If you don't get a 3rd interview, you suck at life.

You left out the word "I" so I thought you were offering to have someone take a best buy interview for you or something...

Good luck on the interview anyways.

:D. Here's how I see it:

If someone is dumb/ignorant enough not to research before they buy, and accept paying $100 for a 3-foot HDMI cable, serves them right. A quick Google search will reveal you can get one for $5, but they're too lazy. Fvck them, then. I sold a $150 HDMI cable to a guy today, and I don't feel bad at all. It's his own fault for not researching himself.

:D. Here's how I see it:

If I call up SLCentrals grandmother and tell her she has wombats on her roof and they will eat everything and insurance will not pay and she allows me to spray water with some red food color agent on her roof for oh... $10,000 then its her own fault.

So what are your families phone numbers and address?

:D :D. Horrible example, though. A better one would be to sell a car, knowing it sucks, to someone thinking it's great. Anyone can find out it's a ripoff by Googling, but people are too lazy.

I found out that I applied for a GeekSquad position doing PC tech support and repair.

I wonder how that will go. They asked me "How would you explain sectors on a hard drive to your grandmother?"

And I have to go back in for the second interview with the store owner/manager guy. I hope that goes well.
