Money has just about eaten a hole in my pocket. Buying tonight. All reference, same price. Galaxy or EVGA or MSI?
 
MSI. The Twin Frozr heatsink is probably the best out there aside from the aftermarket ones.

Don what are you gonna do with your 7850 now?

MSI, screw EVGA.

Their warranty is garbage now and they charge extra for what was free before, and even the extra has all kinds of terms, conditions and sneaky caveats.

And actually he's putting them under water so the heatsink is irrelevant.

The brand isn't a big deal then IMO. Any of them should be fine. Get whatever's cheapest with the best warranty.

Ok, on water HD7970 is strong, especially since you already have 1 MCW82 waterblock. If you are definitely going water, HD7970 will topple the 670 as it can go > 1300mhz and at that speed it 670 has no hope to catch it with a volt mod 😉. Also AMD tends to stick with their mounting hole designs which means you might be able to reuse AMD waterblocks in the future. Not sure if you'd need full cover blocks for 2 7970s though since it would become more difficult to cool the VRMs with just the GPU blocks. But I am not knowledgeable on water cooling.

Then it's also a question CF vs. SLI drivers.....I've read a lot of negative press on CF drivers.

The funny thing is if you are going GTX670 SLI = $800 + $100 x 2 full water blocks = $1000, well GTX690 will probably be just as good since it has highly binned 680 chips and you could get 1 block. Too bad it's also not readily available.

You could also get a 2nd 7850 as the best bang for the buck option.

As far as 670s go, all the non-after market ones are basically the same. The MSI card has the highest stock GPU boost of 1045mhz (but this won't matter since it's still based on that dinky PCB with locked voltage).

MSI has always done me right. Running an MSI 680 right now. Gonna grab another when they come available. I need to reach the 500 fps mark in all the old games i play lol.

Whats realistic boost clock on a water cooled 670? 1300? 1350?
 
Once you volt mod, warranty is out the window. The cards you are looking at are all identical since they are reference. So buy which is cheapest or flip a coin. I dunno though if you are going all out on volt modding, get a solid card with strong components. $30 extra for Direct CU's is probably worth the wait because you'll most likely be stuck with these cards for 6 months. I don't see NV dropping anything much faster for a while.

LOL i like this question cause i have been playing musical video cards as well,from selling off my 7970 to settling for a gtx570 as i figured 600 series was gonna be impossible to purchase for a while to now seeing a wide selection in stock and now the wheels are turning,the gtx670 is to sweet to pass up.:biggrin:

You ever play games or just swap out cards and order HW all the time?

Shit gets old real quick just upgrading my 580 - had to drain system - take block off - put pads then stock HSF back on - but on ebay - run to PO - then new card comes - then two week later new block comes - then put it on - fill system - check for air bubbles - installed new OS which I do anyway about once a year. All apps... get os friendly.. just a big pita. I hate upgrading. Hence my 4 years old bloomy is just fine.

I actually played 2 hours of BF3 today after i cut the grass. Was a very relaxing day.
