I could probably live with 1300. I'd love to play with a 7970 but the price isn't worth it IMO

Take the waterblock off your 7850, buy another one for $50.

Grab 2 of these kits for VRM/memory cooling = $27

2 of the new stepping 7970s = $1000
Total cost = $1,077

vs. GTX670 Reference = $800 + $100 x 2 waterblocks = $1000.

Not much difference. ?

How on earth do they get away with charging that much for a water block?

Marisa Miller hand polishes them. Supply and demand.

You should what the resale value is of full cover waterblocks is after after new GPUs come out. At least the universal ones can be carried over to the next build.

EDIT: Don, I totally forgot you are a big BF3 player right? OK, in that case, 670s it is!

Because it costs over 2 million in robots before you make your first waterblock. Then materials. And they are a lot of copper like full covers over 2lbs. Delrin, also not cheap. And maybe 1% of video card buyers you can sell them too.

As long as you sell it top ender of past you do okay... Like a used GTX 580 block goes for $75. New is $125. I lose about $50 a generation on block and $100-$150 on card.

But worth it for silence (and I mean that - my rad fans are only fans in entire system and spin @ 800max)

MSI, screw EVGA.

Their warranty is garbage now and they charge extra for what was free before, and even the extra has all kinds of terms, conditions and sneaky caveats.

Doubtless, EVGA's warranty isn't quite as all-encompassing as it used to be, but I'd still pick them over any others from either camp for the exact same card.

ASUS DCII will be out on tuesday. Don't ask me how I know, I just know.

I hope you're right 😀

and @Don Karnage, I look forward to how this setup turns out. Particularly the hardmodding portion... it looks rather... complex 😉

Two EVGA's incoming along with another MCW82 block. Tuesday should be interesting.

Where? When, what, hoW!??? I was searching all weekend for EVGA GTX 670s and couldn't find one at MSRP... I finally saw Gigabytes in stock on AMAZON shipped by AMAZON, but by the time I went to get my CC and came back they were gone... :'(

Srs? Too bad you're not in Chicago. I've got an EVGA 670 I'm trying to dump off for what I paid ($410). Can't seem to get rid of it since Friday.

I've got an EVGA Vanilla 670 inc, but I will either return it or sell it on the marketplace in favor of the ASUS.
