The only difference is this retention meeting is with HR instead of outside consultants. So have had to sit thru one of this if so what are they all about.

One senior engineer seemed to have tears in her eyes when she came back. I will let you guys know if I get canned this afternoon.

Basically you have to convince HR to keep you around. You are being interviewed for your current job.

Happens all the time. If a company is looking at restructuring and sees unnecessary headcount then you have to decide who to keep around.

"So what exactly is you do here..."

Then a new structure, with less people (hed count) can be developed and I come in way under budget - which means my bonus is super fat this year.
