I have a laptop that does not have a floppy drive (it broke) :(. I was wondering if it is possible to install win2k pro without making floppy bootdisks? The CD-ROM on the drive still works. I see the only way being to install my old copy of windows 98 first and then installing win 2k on top of that. Is it possible without installing win98 first? Thanks for any help.

Assuming that you have a legit copy of 2K, the CD is bootable so you should not have to make the disks. I installed 2k on my laptop by just booting with the CDROM drive.

Boot from the CD. Do not perform an upgrade. Even though an upgrade gives less problems with W2K than previous versions of Windows, a fresh install is best. As a matter of fact, an upgrade is the only option I consider.

If you can't boot from the CD for some reason copy it to the hard drive and install it from the hard drive.
