QFT

if you wore a suit and I had said that you didn't need to, it would be a mark against you.

and if you do wear a suit be ready to answer this question: "I told you that you didn't have to wear a suit, how come you are wearing one?"

Depends on who told you: If it was the person interviewing you, don't wear a suit. If it was someone else, wear it.

Where a nice shirt/tie combo. Something not plain but not overly flashy. Then where a nice belt + shoes. Pants are always optional.

My suggestion, black slacks, nice shoes and a white polo. Make sure its ironed too, cause walking in messed up clothes only give the impression you are unorgainized and you can't prepare sh!t.

Also, make sure you have some nice accessories, if they see you have that McDonald's Watch on, they are gonna be like yeah right... RETARD! I'd come in with a pair of Oakleys on (Razrwire FTW) and with a semi nice watch, no need to get a rolex, just don't go to the dollar store...

Also, turn your damn cell phone off, or put it on vibrate before you go in.. Half way through the interview, they don't wanna hear "Shoulder Lean" coming out of your pocket...

wish me luck guys... i'm bringing my suit getup, but i might just leave the jacket in the car... it's way too hot right now.

I'd wear a suit...if you find it's too formal, take off the jacket.

Still too formal? Take off the pants...(just kidding)

I only own a blazer. I wore that.

But honestly, I don't think it fvcking matters a hell of a lot in this situation. As long as you're reasonably well dressed they're going to care more about how you interview and how qualified you are then whether you wore a suit or not.

bahaha, i can just imagine that happening to someone and how red faced they would get.

Always always always wear a suit. Sheesh this is common knowledge! Treat every interview as if you were going to your dream job. Therefore dress to impress.

Unless you are applying for McDonalds or BurgerKing. God knows how low you could dress for an interview there. You could probably go in wearing a nappy and a 10ft beard and still get the job.

I need to know the specific wording. It sounds like they were describing the attire at work, and saying that you don't have to wear a suit to work. That is much different than saying you don't have to wear a suit to the interview. Even that has to be worded in a certain way before I won't. Saying you don't HAVE to wear a suit is different than saying you should NOT wear a suit.

The accessories comment was stupid, nobody cares about how much you overpaid for crappy sunglasses. If they said that the environment is business casual in general, but not specifically that you shouldn't wear a suit (why would they say that?) I would just wear a nice blazer and some khakis. A tie that isn't outrageous is fine too.

I mean those are the basics - you want your personality to win the job remember, the dress code part is just to show you respect the interviewer's time. Some other interview tips - leave the cell phone in the car, research the company beforehand, ask the interviewer what he does, what his expectations are for you and also ask him how you can contribute immediately to the company. Be confident and don't put yourself down and you'll do fine. I actually have a decent job so I don't think my advice is too bad on this one.

Don't listen to those who say you should wear a suit. I once went to a job interview and they said business casual so I wore a suit. Well, the interviewer told me no one who interviews at that company wears a suit and it might have made me look as if I was trying way too hard to get the position. Needless to say, I didn't get the position but if they specify no suit, don't wear a suit.
