I must have the worst memory ever. I made 3 appointments to meet different people today, and only remembered ONE of them. Give me your name and I guarantee I'll forget it. Birthdays, Phone numbers?... no chance in hell! Okay, all joking aside, it's a pretty big problem that I ought to address. Anyone know of any good software that allows you to write reminders for yourself and would give you pop up message reminders on assigned date/times?

why bother, you're going to forget to check this thread anyway :)

MS Outlook does that, full version. Could be overkill for you though.

I thought about getitng a PDA, but I figure it's just one more thing to carry around with me that I would eventually stop using. Heck, I could see myself putting it somewhere and FORGETTING about it!

Microsoft Outlook has a good calender and reminder function.

I have Office, but I never installed it. Does the reminder function only kick in when you open the program or is it running 24/7?

I think you should look into a PDA with... uum.... and my 3DMark score went way up..... but if you can run it under WinXP then ..... it could be the spark plugs but then again.

You configure the reminder to activate by whastever setting you want, and there are several. It is tied to the date/time clock on your pc. If you set an appointment in the calender, you can tell it to remind you by whatever you like. It is a very good program, used in offices around the world. Use it, you will like it.

And it does colaberate with PDA's if you need it to.

I use Outlook and it is very good but I think the question is does the program have to run 24/7. I know I personally always keep Outlook open but others might not want to

Yes, the program does have to be running at all times. Put it in your startup, it's not a big deal.

My vote goes to the PDA though, a lot of the time when I need to remember something I'm not at home. It's not *that* hard to remember to put it in your pocket, if you put it in every time you go out it doesn't feel right for it not to be there.

My outlook does not have to be open to have the reminder alert me to what I have set. The reminder is seperate. I have an audible and a popup alert.

if all else fails, you can always just write your own program and hook it onto the scheduler service on your computer. I imagine it'd be <50 lines of vb code.
