Just go for the Radeon LE, $83 at newegg.com w/ free shipping I believe. Newegg rocks the house, cheap prices and most times when I order (before they open like 4am) it ships out the same day. Also they use Fed EX so no busted up boxes like UPS.

well I had(have) a radeon 32 mb DDr retail card, I play lots of UT online and some quake3 and plenty of other odd games....overall the voodoo5 is a better card IMO.......the voodoo5 has great drivers, much better than what the radeon has. the voodoo5 blowes away the radeon in UT, d3d vs d3d, it doesn't even need glide. but I'm using win 98 se

Thanks for the advice folks... I'll probably go with the Radeon LE because of the future support (vs 3dfx).

Err, you're running Windows 2000 and you decided on a Radeon? Perhaps you should look here before making your final decision.

Yes, I read that article, and that was part of the reason I was not leaning toward the Radeon to begin with... but some people here rsounded awfully convincing...

So, I'm still undecided...

OK...so maybe UT will not run a lot faster with a GeForce MX than my Voodoo3... but will it look better? I like the fact that nvidia works so hard on drivers... They almost continually upgrade their product that way...

Haven't had either but I'm sure the MX will look far better and still be more than fast enough. Voodoo really stinks on ice. The V3 as you know does not support full color or hi-res textures in any game. The V5 does support full color but not hi-res textures in UT because it cannot use the OpenGL hack as far as I last heard. In any case, it seems silly to buy an unsupported card from a bankrupt company -there are enough problems with supported viddy cards! If the V5 was $30 or something the risk/reward ratio might be worth it but otherwise go with the MX or Radeon. MX if you need the best NT performance or the possibility of VO or VIVO otherwise Radeon for features, quality, and performance (under 9x now but hopefully under NT soon!).

one thing you should ask your self is how long are going to use this graphics card, I have a voodoo5 and could care less about not having any support, the card works great and will for a while yet. true if the card dies in a few months I will not be happy, but no big deal. I can just buy another card maybe even another voodoo5, I buy a new card about once every year any how. just look how cheap you will be able to buy todays cards for in 6 months or a year.
