I did some reading and i see that vlc does not have a 64 bit version of their program and that 32-bit version has issues , which is bad news since that is what i use to take care of video playback, now that im skeptic about vlc i have no idea what would be "ideal" video player for 64 bit? looking for something efficient no need to get a bunch of codecs etc, and stable with no issues

thanks inadvance

On a related note: the vast majority of media players and codec packages are still 32-bit. I believe VMC, WMP11 and Zune Software have x64 versions, but that's about it. There are some x64 codec packages, but they're not nearly as complete or featurefull as the x86 versions.

I use the k-lite codec pack on Vista x64. Media player classic seems to work just fine and WMP opens DVDs. I actually haven't tried VLC because I haven't had to use it.

Man I don't even remember what codec pack I use anymore. I believe it is called all in one codec pack or something like that? I just looked for a highly downloaded codec pack that was a larger size (more codecs?).

Works for me!

I just use the 32bit Windows Media Player, the shell integration is kinda hard to beat for me. There's both a 64bit and 32bit version installed on Vista x64.

Codecs, I just use K-Lite.

The best one is the one you prefer. VLC doesn't have to be 64bit to work great in 64bit Vista.

That said, I simply prefer to use WMP11.

stay away from 64 bit codecs /codec packs packs and 64bit builds of codecs, ffdshow and mediaplayers. Still too many incompabilities and bugs, many features broken.
Use the normal 32 bit versions.

Yeah, I agree. 32-bit codecs are still the best for now.

I use MPC (6.4 or whatever the older build is) with CCCP (community codec pack, basically FFDShow). Zero problems with mpeg/avi/mov/h264 even 1080p files (mkv container).

All you need is "Vista Codec Pack" (google it), it's 64 bit counterpart, and Media Player Home Cinema (64 bit)

Killer combo
