Have: $50-$100 Want: Good speakers

Title just about sums it up. I'm looking for some good speakers. By good I mean speakers that sound good (no distortion) when played at a normal listening volume. No need for heavy thumping bass or extreme volumes, these speakers won't be cranked. These are for someone who currently has some lousy $10 JBL speakers which distort the sound horribly at any volume. What do you guys reccomend?

For that amount, I'd say it's pretty hard to go wrong with Altec-lansing's stuff. This is a pretty nice setup that's in your price range...I'm very happy with mine. Sounds good at higher volumes (for both music and games), has plenty of bass (adjustable) and didn't break the bank. A fusion mortar in Tribes2 really takes on a life of its own with the sub turned up.😀

I'd say head on over to your local BestBuy/etc and listen to the setups they have and see what you like....speakers are a very subjective thing.

Why is nobody recommending the Logitech z560's? I thought those were the big rage now. Though I am curious why the price on them dropped suddenly from around 130 to 60 something?

I am not sure where I saw it, it was one of the PCMALL type catalogs I get at home. I remember thinking it seemed way to cheap so looked twice to verify it was z560's, but then threw it away before I would be tempted to spend money I shouldn't be spending..... Now that I look at their webpage though I am wondering if I was seeing the z540's? Anyway, I can't find it now so forget I said it and sorry for confusion. :-(
