hauppauge WinTV PVR 250mce $99, 350 $149

Edit: Deal is probably dead, can't get to the site to confirm right now (getting "document contains no data" error messages.)

Hauppauge is selling the WinTV PVR 250mce for $99, and the 350 for $149 at the Hauppauge.com web store. In contrast, Newegg.com has the 250mce for $130 and the 350 for $186 (when they have 'em in stock.) These TV turners have hardware mpeg encoding, which reduces the load of your processor.

I believe they are doing this because they have new products coming out soon, like the dual-tuner 500mce.

They've also got a deal where you can get the WinTV-PVR-350 and the MediaMVP (a PC to TV over ethernet thing) together for $199.

Good deal and it is tempting to set up a tv server with one of these cards so that I can watch tv on my laptop when I make a visit to the restroom, but I don't seem to watch enough tv these days to constitute the need to buy one of these.

Wow I didnt realize they werent all linux compatable

I've been waiting for the price to drop. Hopefully it will drop more in the next couple months and I'll pick a couple up

deal already dead...to my aggrivation. Guess I'll have to wait for the next deal, cause I can't find the pvr-250 anywhere cheaper at this time.

Circuit City had them for around $80 AR from this

THREAD

I've got one & it's a different version/chipset. Also picked up a copy of Windows XP MCE from newegg.

I'm setting it up right now on my Dell 400SC from a deal last year.

I've pulled my Roslyn card out & put in the Amity from cc as this one has a remote buit~in. 😀

It's my second XP MCE install as these things are very touchy when/how/order you download their correct drivers.

Why did I wait 🙁
PCalchemy has the -250MCE for a hundred bones. Their site seems to be a little FUBARed at the time I'm typing this, though.

guess PCalchemy thought there price was too good to be true also, and bumped the MCE up to $124. DAMN hauppage, I want this card, but for 99 or lower

I believe the retail package was always $124. The OEM was selling for $99, but it looks like they're out of stock. Searching around, they also have the 150mce OEM for $75. This is supposed to be the lower cost, but same quality/features, version of the 250mce. Anyone care to review the 150mce if they got it?
