Looks like the price reflects AT demand. 😀 Wait a few days and see if it falls closer to the original $69?

Or they could sell out or they could even go lower?

I'm in for $81 shipped. 😀

Thanks for the deal

iTVC15 Conexant Chip - CX23415
iTVC16 Conexant Chip - CX23416

The iTVC16 chip is currently having some issues being recognized by the linux ivtv drivers (im using Mythtv) and you have to actually patch the code to resolve the issue. But it seems as if applying the current patch will not allow you to use more than one card capture card in the system. I am currently using a PVR 350 (it has an iTVC15 encoder) and it works great. Here is a little to a little info about the pvr cards and how to find out which chip its using Link

confirmed. this looks to be a pvr250mce board, and has iTVC16 Conexant Chip - CX23416.

ahhh, crap. 🙁 looks like I'm going to have problems with mythtv then....

The guy who posted in here from that store has a patch, he uses mythtv. You won't have a probem, unless you are using multiple cards.

I got my card and am liking it so far, I am using BeyondTV 3 right now and plan on using SageTV for a while also to see which one I like better. This replaces my Leadtek WinTV2000 Expert and it looks good so far, plus I really like BeyondTV 3, it's 50x better than the Leadtek software!

I'm the guy from "that store" (http://www.pcalchemy.com), the patch will work with multiple cards as long as they are all version 2 cards (I've got several of these MCE cards in a KnoppMyth box). That being said, I provided a card to the ivtv developers and they have fixed this in the ivtv 0.1.10 pre-release by providing a way to set the card type when the driver is loaded, check out the following for more info:

http://ivtv.sf.net

As far as the great deal on these cards at z-buy.com, they are the 32552 MCE cards and will work with the patch or the 0.1.10 pre-release.

BTW, z-buy.com and cnetpc.com are the same company and are also the same company as ztgroup.com who is an authorized Windows XP MCE system house. ZT Group buys 1000s of these OEM cards to build MCE systems and are providing these same OEM cards to z-buy and cnetpc on the side. To prove that these are all the same companys simply do a whois and you'll see they are all at the same physical address. I wonder if Hauppauge is happy about them dumping OEM cards, that are sold retail for $149.95?

Wow! Very interesting info there Greg. Thanks 🙂

Now I'm really chomping @ the bit about getting mine. I'll be standing @ the door every day till she gets here. 😀

I'm also replacing a Leadtek XP 2000 with this & am moving my PC next to my HDTV so I can use it as a htpc & still have it as a regular gaming PC.

What a great deal this one has turned out to be. I've still yet to check out Sage & Beyonds software but I can only imagine how much the manufacturers of the TIVO & the likes must be shivering in their boots as the prospects of products like these.

This is a HUGE cost savings over any set~up that requires a monthly fee as well as their hardware to run it.

Awesome deal! 😀

I just did my first recording with BeyondTV 3 and was very impressed when compared to the Leadtek software. It sat in my system tray and recorded with very little use of system resources, better yet, the picture quality was excellent compared to the Leadtek. This is so much better than Tivo or the WinFast software, I am very impressed with it so far!

I think if you are using windows media center you can use the remote that newegg sells to control the PVR card?
I'm not sure about this, it's just a thought 🙂 Anyone know if this will work?

Yes, the Philips WinMCE remote will work, as long as you are using Windows XP Media Center Edition ... and not just XP Pro or Home.

I know for a fact that the Philips remote (from Newegg) works 🙂 and can safely assume that other MCE compliant remotes will work too.

Will it send IR signals too to control say a sat receiver?

I got my card today from cnetpc. Little pissed here, didn't come with any software! So I go and call 'em up, explain the situation and they tell me that it doesn't come with any software, huh?! I says to 'em, "I'm looking at the site now and it does come with wintv (and drivers)!" He then tells me to hold on, gets back on the phone and tells me he'll call me in a half an hour. Well, we're going on 4 hours now. I have tried calling back, but I'm sure they're closed by now. It'd be nice if they had a d@m answering machine! I also tried emailing them, but have yet to recieve a response.

So I paid $89 shipped and just got the card and no software, WTF...:|

Mine just came as a bare card too but I am really satisfied with it! $69 shipped!
Drivers you can download off the hauppauge site. Their software is garbage though compared to beyond and sagetv. I dont think very many people use or intended to use the hauppague tv software so it is not a very big issue (for me at least).

If you are itching to use the new card, both beyond and sagetv offer free trials. You can also use the free software at myhtpc.com.

Whoa buddy. Simmer down there!

All of the drivers and software are downloadable from Hauppauge's website! It's all right here.

Sweet! Thanks for the link Dantzig 😀

It is after all an OEM. I could see it coming as bare could get. @ this price it's phenominal! 😉

Thanks nnnyyy and Dantzig, sorry if I came off as too hot headed, I'm just so frustrated with dealing in online ordering and getting messed up shipments. Guess this was just the last straw. I'm cool now, I think my blood pressure's back in the normal range🙂 Actually, I have a DVR, so all I really wanted to do with this card is to convert old home movies to mpeg2 to put on DVD. If that software's not that great I can deal. I'll try some of those other service's and get the drivers from those links (appreciate that Dantzig).

Thanks again guys😉
