Seems like Z-buy put up a new description. Definetely stating its a 250, High quality MPEG1/MPEG2 video and audio encoder based on the Conexant -416 MPEG encoder

Yep, they've updated the description and picture. I'm in. But like another poster mentioned there seems to be some "problem" with their website adding an additional card to the order. Watch out for that...

that's a nice deal for those that actually got in before they raised up the price... wonder how i missed it last night.

Ordered 2 and then they charged me for 4! They really should have some sort of confirmation page. At least it only took around 10 minutes to call them up and correct the order.

hahahahaa...I asked for another email to confirm the correct quantity and he said "Dont worry about it!". If I get screwed I guess I'll put them up in the FS forum. Great deal even at $80 considering that the cheapest MPEG2 hardware card is the OEM $69 ATI ehome and it has no sort of mythtv support.

This is still a hot deal for $80... on pricewatch the cheapest pvr 250 mce is $136.

They just called me, but their number didn't show up on my caller ID. I decided to take both cards at the $69 price and sell one of them instead of correcting my order.

OK...i've been watching this thread because i got a 250 a little over a month ago and love it. I did a google search for "mce" and watched the windows descriptions of this. I'm a little confused why and what the advantages are of this "mce" version and using the windows program. Why wouldn't you just use the software that comes with the hauppauge 250? It's got the remote and you can record tv and transfer vhs/tapes. Can anyone explain to me why this "mce" card is better and the windows program better? thanks for the input, robert

edit: I know the 250 i have doesn't have fm (i can live without it), but it does have a remote. Does this "mce" version have better video quality (playback and recording)? I suppose it might be that the advantage is the price is cheaper and just wondering if that's the advantage.

I think the MCE (Media Center Edition) is only useful for people that have Microsoft Media Edition XP OS. This OS addtion allows you to have the tv guide type interface and make your computer into a full functioning HTPC. Now there are alot of programs out there like MythTV and Snapstream that do the same, but this is the first "Big" program from Microsoft for the masses.

Oh man, I was gonna order this when I got home tonight cuz I left my CC on my desk. That truly sucks for me as I was waiting for a deal like this. :( I know this might be a long shot, but if anyone wants to sell their extra card for a reasonable price, I'll be interested. I have PayPal ready so send me a PM if you're interested.

I ordered one from cnetpc.com great reseller ratings. I didn't want to take the chance with z-buy they have a crappy website and bad customer service.

Customer Service guy on the phone was quite nice and very quick in removing the extra card from my order. I didn't see a problem.
