We've got one of these things: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16815116609

Problem is, we've got a VCR. The included red, yellow, white cable is currently plugged in, and the VCR is plugged into that cable. However, we cannot get the video to display on the PC for capture. Suggestions? I'm not familar with any of the software included, so if there's an alternative program to use that works better that's fine.

Oh, also. The cable the VCR is hooked into has like, Video OUT written on it. Would that mean it outputs, doesn't receive?

I'm not familiar with the Hauppage software, but you should be able to find an option to select your video inputs. TV cards generally have the tuner selected by default, so you'll want to switch to "composite" or "RCA" that you are connected to.

Basically, you'll select your inputs for VHS capture, and you should see the blue menu for your VCR on the capture screen, if you see the VCR menu, click record and start the VHS tape. You can try Windows Movie Maker also if you are running Win OS.

So yeah, I did that. No dice. I'm missing an option somewhere i'm sure.

Anyone wanna walk me through step by step setting up the vcr, connecting it, which cables to use, and all the software steps? There's gotta be something i'm missing.
