Hauppage WinTV PVR 250 w/Remote- $116 at Circuit City

I picked this up today, and when I looked on line to see how much I got ripped off by buying it retail, I found out the answer was about -$15.

I don't know if this is everywhere or not, but it was $116 at the B&M Circuit City in Slidell, LA.

I paid $99 AR so no you didn't get ripped off.

You can get this capability cheaper by going with the 150 or the MCE addition. Those float around the $70 mark online.

Gotta say for no-brainer decent captures this card is the shiat.

It gave me much better results in minutes than I was able to achieve in hours messing with my non-mpeg2 compatible card.

Does come with a remote, if that's the question. Mine did anyways 😉 But I just got it from Newegg. Haven't installed it yet, hope to soon.

Not to thread crap, but you might check out nVidia's NVTV tuner. You can get one that has dual hardware encoding for not too much more than this, and the single one is sub-$100. I haven't read any reviews or anything, so I don't know how good they are, but its an alternative that not many people know about.

The PVR-150 is just as good as the 250, just cheaper because it's a newer design. Circuit City has it for under $100, as does PCAlchemy.com

If you get the regular PVR-150 (not the 150mce) it comes with software, a remote, and IR emitter for controlling a cable box.

I believe that the 250 doe hardware encoding/decoding thought doesn't it?

either way, isn't the 250 better for Mythtv?

anyone else have a mythtv setup running? 😀
