Anyone out there cant stand their job? I am completely fed up with this place. I work in computer distribution as a salesman. A new customer walked in yesterday(which rarely happens) and wanted to set up an acccount with us as a reseller so he could start buying from us. He wants to use nothing but cash, no check, credit, net terms or anything, just cash up front. What could be better than that?
After I set him up, he comes back to place his first order, a $1500 first order, and again, will give us cash(In this biz, thats a plus) His order was placed at 3:30 and its usually only takes an hour to process and pick the order. I told him come back in an hour. This guy shows up at 5:50 to get his sh!t. My boss tells him that he has to come back tomorrow, we are busy. No other disty would have done this to him. I called him this morn to find out why he didnt pick up his stuff and thats when he told me. He was pretty ticked off. First impressions last a lifetime, and this guy already had a bad taste in his mouth about my company.
What that hell, am i crazy, shouldnt they have given this man his order and take his money. This sucks

Your boss is a moron. If you have the guts, ask your boss why he didn't take a wad of cash that was sitting in front of him. You should quit, if you can work somewhere else.

I *dislike* my job...but I like the getting paid part of it. Nevertheless, I'm leaving it and will be officially unemployed come December.

That sucks CT2TXtech, your boss sounds like a complete idiot. He just turned down business.

I work in the family insurance business. Sitting at a desk with paperwork and doing what is basically a sales position does not jive with me. Unfortunately, even though I get what is crap for pay, the incentives to stay are almost unfair.

Your company is a sales driven and your boss said, "We're too busy, come back later."?! If this is how the company operates, you won't have a job in 4 months once the company goes under. What was he too busy with, taking a dump? If a customer comes in to give you money, pinch off that loaf, pull up your pants, and RUN to shake his hand!! Your boss needs to learn a few things about customer service.

Nothing will happen if i do that. (now for the ignorant statement of the day) 98% of this company is Chinese and most of family or lifelong friends. So If i tell her boss or her boss, then nothing will happen. They will just speak in Chinese about me, Boo how Boo how Boo how. They cost my co-worker his biggest account for no reason. Didnt want to spend 200 to make 2000. They wont care, they will just tell me, pick up the phone and call your customa

To my Chinese brothers, im working on my ignorance

I worked for a Chinese family for a while and it took some getting used to. I found them to be very cool in that we could use the f-word with pissy customers and I could call in sick or take vacations on short or zero notice. You definitely want to stay on thier good side, and rather than go to them with problems or complaints, go with ideas and solutions. You'll get much better results that way.
