Geesh, 2 days and Im still playing with it, here's the problem, I just bought another putter yesterday (750 MHz TBird) and I think my older 350 got jealous and committed suicide.. Its not working at all, So Here's the symptoms and things I tried. It goes through post fine, installs Dos and my cd-rom drivers fine, installs windows to a Point, it freezes mid way.. sometimes Im getting VxD errors (0028:c000AAE8 VXD VMM (01) at 00009AE8)

I've tried allot, swopping everything in there, all peripherals.. Still freezes,I tried doing a Scan disk, No errors (surface scan either) I tried jumping the Cmos, I Formatted dozens of times with the /U options (Unconditional) Tried using different OS's..Swopped the ram for another.. checked for any loose cables (None) and played around in Bios, I tried a diff Vid Card.. and its still the same. Im thinking it may be the Mobo itself (God I hope Not) or its the HD, actually the last boot it didn't even see it in POST.. Before it crashed I was getting allot of Errors So I wanted to format, This happened only a few mins before I was about to do it.. I swear, This thing has a mind of its own.

ANY help would be Great. Thanx

well, from the sound of it, it seems to be your hard drive, but it be your mobo... i doubt that though. Since you've formatted and nothing changed, i'd suggest getting some low level format software, you can download that from any hdd manufacturer's site, i'm not sure if u can use say a maxtor prog on an ibm though, but u should be able to find one from your maker. That's gonna bring the drive back to retail box state, and everything should work. To really be sure the problem lies in your hard drive, you should swap it into another machine, or bring another hdd to that one... good luck

I can't find quantium's site, and the maxtor utilities appear to be strictly for their drives. I'm sure if u ask around you'll be able to get either to quantiums site or some generic software, good luck again.
