yeah, i'm sorry to say, i dunno much about Pink Floyd but i hear good things.

what are the better songs and/or CD's out there?

Wish You Where Here is my favorite, but Dark Side, The Wall, and Momentary Lapse of Reason are all well worth owning.

I prefer the songs in context rather than ripped from the song cycle and plonked into a Hits package or playlist, but that's just me. This old stuff is much more parts of a linked set than the radio-ready stand-alone pop singles of today.

Read this book then start with their first release and go in the order they were made. You will understand much more about their catalog as well as the band.

I've never seen that book MBony but it looks interesting. Anyways, The Wall is good as is Dark Side of the Moon.

How could anyone just discover them though? And how could you only hear about DSOTM last year sleepmachine?!

"animals" is also worth buying

edit: and so is "the final cut"

Wish you were here is my fav. Dark side of the moon is a classic. Hmmm. . . I seem to have lost my copy of Dark, whatever shall I do?

Heheh

"Wish You Were Here" is also my favorite. I also like "Momentary Lapse of Reason", and "Dark Side of the Moon" is a classic.

feel free to skip "final cut". it sucks ass

i loved the final cut, but it does sound much differant than the usuall pink floyd

btw, get meddle and all the albums after it

my favorite is probably ANIMALS with one of my favorite songs, "dogs"

First CD you should get would be Dark Side of the Moon. After that The Wall, when watch The Wall, but don't watch it before you hear it.

Welcome my son...

Everyone has a different personal preference for Pink Floyd. I would also suggest the Echoes Best of 2 cd set. Listen to it and decide which songs you like the most and then buy that album.

While I really like the Syd Barrett years, it should not be the intro to Pink Floyd.

their string of mid/late 70's albums are essential and you can't go wrong with any of them

DSOTM, WYWH, Animals, The Wall

Yes. After this, then you can go on to check out the later stuff and the earlier stuff, but THIS is the real Floyd meat and potatoes.

Pink Floyd is one of my all time fav. You must listen to the whole album and not just a few songs and not in random play.

Recommended albums:

Dark side of the moon
Wish you were here
The wall 1 and 2
Meddle
