Hate on Amazon all you want, but they just keep exceeding my expectations

I'm a subscriber to Amazon Prime (2nd Year), I don't do the lending library and don't stream much of the free video service or music.

Ordered my new Chromebox today and saw that I could get it overnighted for 3.99. I am not working tomorrow and won't have a day off again until next Wednesday, so DEAL. I'm gonna be using it as my HTC so I needed to get a FLIRC for the remote control. Didn't need the overnight on that one, because I can just poach the one off my Raspberry Pi in the bedroom until new one got here on Friday.

Well, Amazon said screw the principle of the matter and threw them both in the same box to be delivered tomorrow.

Sure, it's probably just cheaper for them to do it that way anyway, but there have been numerous times when other vendors withheld something (I am looking at you NewEgg) because I didn't pay for the upgrade on part of the order. Common sense be damned.

It seems like about every 4th or 5th time I buy something with Amazon that I end up with some small token like this that reassures me of why I buy so much stuff from there.

<thumbs up>

We're so quick to complain about everything that companies do right that I like to throw a little balance out there.

Have we set our sights so low that we give a company praise just for not screwing up?

I've never heard of a case where you have to pay for individual shipping on each item coming from the same warehouse, especially when you're already paying for a shipping upgrade.

2 day free shipping (and half my shit comes in one day), plus all the movie and music streaming, yep, Amazon Prime rocks.

I don't use the movies all that much, but I love the shipping. $100 is easily worth it. I've been using our local grocery store's delivery service as well (Peapod by Stop & Shop, $7 or so per delivery) and want to try doing like a month without B&M shopping. I'm pretty impulsive in-store & always spend at least $20 more than I intend to, so the sub-$10 delivery fee isn't too bad when you look at it that way 😉

I'm a recent first time Prime subscriber. I bought it mostly for the free 2-day shipping. My daughter loves the streaming videos for their selection of children's shows.

Adding HBO shows has made this an awesome deal. The new music service is in theory nice too.

Yup, they are the best, no doubt about it. Have been prime member 3 years running and no complaints, only praises. Hopefully 11main does not impact their business, I hope they can weather the storm

Amazon is a great thing. Having prime is meh. I do subscribe just because I'm an impatient bastard though.

Prime is the only thing to me that makes ordering from Amazon worthwhile. When I know there is a guaranteed delivery date for an item (or possibly earlier), it matters greatly to me if I will order from them vs another supplier.

This week I've ordered a drive cable, belt, and air filter for a mower that was given to me. I could have ordered it from tulsa engine warehouse or parts tree, but I get a guaranteed delivery date from Amazon and want the items before this weekend.

This morning, after reading about an angle grinder mishap on a welding forum, I bought a 3m full face shield from Amazon.com that will be here on Saturday.

I'm one of those people who want to know when to expect an item and like prime for this reason.

I tried Prime a few months ago for their video. Didn't find it worthwhile. Now they have older HBO shows but I already have HBO

My only problem with Prime is that Amazon.ca charges the same amount as in the US, but offers fewer services. I would love to have instant streaming but I guess they don't want to deal with the licensing issues.

Of course the real brilliance of Prime is that if you can get any product under the sun in 1-2 days, you're significantly more likely to do all but your grocery shopping at Amazon as opposed to giving your money to a local retailer. Even if Prime itself is a net loss, it's likely a net game for the company.

Love Amazon Prime. Ordered something on Saturday night, got it delivered on Monday.

Where I live, depending on the product I can order on a Saturday and have it delivered on Sunday. 😱

And there may even be some rare times that I'll get same day delivery.

Just going to add my thoughts. I expect the service I pay for. Amazon advertise comparable service to other companies. I've not had a bad experience with them being late, and often even with free delivery get it faster than the estimated date.

What really sold it for me was the same day deliveries for stuff ordered before midday.
