hate it when companies go back on their offers

There was a deal on dell.com that advertised a 200 gig HD for 222 and 2x$100 rebates. It clearly highlighted it and said "up to $200 in MIR". So I get the two forms, same part number, with two different offer names (but same address) and two different but overlapping date ranges. They don't even ask for the same box clippings. So I go ahead and order the drive.

Now, dell has pulled everything from their site and WD says you can only get one. Seriously, WTF? I tried calling dell to cancel the order but it already shipped.

I'm not really one to bitch about blatant price mistakes, but someone screwed up f*cking hardcore multiple times in the same direction and either WD or dell should stand behind the original offer.

Supposedly people who have contacted the rebate center said you can't have both. The CSR I spoke to for dell had no clue, so I don't have first hand verification myself.

why should we trust you? you cannot just say "trust me" without providing some type of proof to backup your statement that dell will have to answer to this. Also you still haven't answered my question, who will start the class action lawsuit if we don't get both rebates?

why the fsck didn't you say it was your opinion in the first place... you cannot just go making blanketed statements about things you have no proof behind. There are thousands of people that have ordered this HD and dell does not HAVE to honor both rebates. They have disclaimers on their site saying there maybe typos.

The only reason dell has to honor these rebates is for PR purposes. IIRC there was a dell dimension computer rebate fiasco about 6 months ago. Many people didn't get all their rebates and probably never will. I wasn't part of that deal but I'm sure many people can vouch for it.

You guys are lame. I appreciate deals like these when they go through, but I don't cry when they don't. Someone made a mistake, sure, and you know this. Just because Dell is a rather large company doesn't mean they should have to bend over and take it from you. Hopefully one day you'll start up a small company, make a mistake, and have your business shut down by a bunch of pussies like yourselves.

no I don't take everything as fact but I just hate when people make up stuff and pass along as facts. $100 isn't a lot to me but it maybe be to other people. If they have a chance to cancel their orders then I think they should know the facts.
