“Three white racists ripped the straps off my bag & attempted to yank my hijab off my head,” she wrote in a Facebook post the next day. “They yelled such disgusting slurs at me, I was so helpless and felt defenseless.”

“It breaks my heart that so many individuals chose to be bystanders while watching me get harassed verbally and physically by these disgusting pigs,” she added. “Trump America is real and I witnessed it first hand last night! What a traumatizing night.”

Reports a hate crime in which "three white racists" assaulted her while bystanders did nothing. National outrage ensues.

Seweid, who lives in Nassau County, had claimed the hateful drunks shouted, “Trump! Trump!” and called her a “terrorist” as they tried to steal her headscarf. “Go back to your country!” she said they shouted during the supposed Dec. 1 attack.

But when cops tried to confirm her story by checking surveillance video, they determined that her story didn’t add up.

Hate-crimes investigators called the Baruch College business major in on Wednesday to work on another sketch of her “attackers,” and confronted her with the inconsistencies, another source said.

That’s when she cracked, admitting she had been out late drinking with friends and made up the attack story to distract her angry father, sources said.

Turns out to be a complete fabrication, justified by her dispute with muslim fundamentalist parents who (allegedly) forced her to shave her head in response to her dating outside her religion?

WTF

Throw the book at this lowlife.

You'd think after all the times we see this kind of thing people would start having a healthy skepticism for sensationalist stories but nope.

With the rise of hate crimes in the US against Muslims, you're bound to start to have more fake ones too

http://www.cbc.ca/news/world/us-hate-crimes-fbi-report-1.3851962

"You can go home now, we don't want n*****& terrorists here, # trump."

Would you consider her parents forcing her to shave her head as a hate crime?

One report in the New York post reveals a fake so therefore and logic math and stuff, ALL these reports are fake and anyone who says different is a liberal SJW gaze persun.
or something....

You know better than to moan about sources. Google the womans name. Choose from the source that most fits your comfort zone.

I knew this story was bullshit when it was first posted here a couple weeks ago. Thanks for the update, OP.

Signed #Trump? lmao, you bleeding-heart leftists are so gullible.

Hate crimes are pretty much a non-issue in the grand scheme of crime. The real problem wrt them are the liberals that create a victim mentality and convince minorities that smearing their own feces into the shape of a swastika will bring social awareness.

Re-read the sentence.

Don't bullshit me. You threw out the name of the source because it doesn't typically lean left. Not the first time people bitch about the ny post on here.

I'm actually giving you credit (in a backhanded sort of way, to be fair) for knowing which way a publication leans irregardless of your location.

So, again, don't act coy, ok partner?

You figure the note in the article with the #Trump is a fake too?

anyone who reports a fake crime of any type is a schuck in my book. and depending upon the severity of it, should be punished. i haven't found any statistics that state what percentage of police reports are fake vs real. but it's almost definitely in the small minority if it's not even tracked.

at any rate, hate crimes since the election number in the many many hundreds. some small number were undoubtedly fake. that leaves us with many many hundreds. it seems a certain portion of the populace was, let us say, inspired by the results.

Shaming a woman by shaving her head in response to dating outside her religion is not a hate crime?

What would you call it?

No, I don't think parents shaming their kids is a hate crime
I don't know what I'd call it.
I have no doubt it shamed her a lot
I would of hated to have fundie parents, I had friends who did

Probably. The only Trump supporters that I can imagine including a hashtag in (what is possibly) a written threat are /pol/ types doing it ironically, but they would generally prefer to troll people online. Hashtag-movements are primarily a thing for young, left-leaning college types.

I respect your candidness.

I personally think disfiguring someone and subsequent emotional abuse in response to religious bias should be a hate crime.

There was some appearence at the very least of some ragey in my response. I guess I would take back the hostility and keep the sentiments. If I misunderstood you - my fault.

That one is a bit more believable. Plausible, although I wouldn't grant it immediate legitimacy either. Any coward can write a hateful anonymous letter, and that goes just as much for false flags. I'd love to see a serious study that looked into how many hate crimes are actually hoaxes, because at this point I only take a story at face value if there is strong evidence (e.g. video footage).

I don't think disfigure is the right word.
Religion is full of emotional abuse, if you start charging people with hate crimes for involving their families in it, you're going to have a lot of court cases
