Hat Poll

I just got a topcoat for christmas (30% cashmere and 70% wool) and now I'm wondering if I shouldn't get a nice hat to complete my formal wardrobe.

What do you guys think?

I'm going to get a black silk tophat to go with both my white tie and morning coat ensembles. Other than that, I occasionally wear a baseball cap or black fedora. I used to wear a bucket hat, but I lost it and haven't found another good one.

Formal hats are awesome. Personally I wear a stocking cap most of the winter (especially since I bike to work on all but the nastiest of days) but I eschew baseball caps.

I don't have much hair. So if I don't wear a hat in the winter, I'm cold. In the summer, my head will burn without a hat.

But a formal hat? No. I have an Irish tweed cap I usually wear in the winter unless it's really cold. But that's as formal as I get.

I wonder how many more ways can people come up on how to wear a baseball cap. Seems the popular way right now is to wear with the bill to the front but to the side alittle. What's next?

I'm hardly out without a Red Sox hat on (I have 7 now, with all different colors and everything), but I wouldn't be seen with a top hat on.
